Straatwerk The love of Christ compels us! [ 2 Corinthians 5:14 ] These young people gathered every Friday evening for Bible study and other Christian activities.

STRAATWERK came into being in the late 1960's developing out of a church youth organisation of the Dutch Reformed Church in Wynberg. They were however, concerned about those who were not part of their group, those who were cast out by society, those who were broken and in distress and who yearned to be healed. With a borrowed van, a tray of sandwiches and a primus stove they went out and shared the love of Christ with anyone who was far away from the Church. Today STRAATWERK is a registered non-profit organisation with a strong evangelistic focus. In view of the diversity of our city it is a privilege to be able to reach out to people irrespective of race, age, religion, culture or sexual orientation. The ministry team of STRAATWERK reflects the rich diversity of our country’s population and represents a variety of different churches. The focus area of STRAATWERK and the meeting area with our target population is the city centre of Cape Town, Green Point and Sea Point. Follow up visits are done across the whole Cape Peninsula.

The OPHELP teams are served by a team for handicapped participants called the Jesus Saves Daily Team. This team consists of about 20 handicapped people, who daily do the laundry of all the uniforms worn by die OPHELP General Services shift deployments.

OPHELP is a ‘School of Life’.�

Ophelp Projekte are not about creating jobs. It is about giving people who are not yet able to be responsible and productive a chance to earn cash through hard and honest work, instead of begging or committing other crimes.
Participants learn important life skills while helping clean streets and improve communities, removing not just rubbish, but also obstacles in their own lives and the lives of others around them.

Valuable to Jesus (VTJ) campaign: We believe that God wants to end all forms of sexual abuse, prostitution and po*******hy, through the focused prayers and compelled action of local churches. In conjunction with local churches we take the VTJ message to local schools. Currently there are about 100 women actively praying in the Cape Flats (Mitchell’s Plain, Manen berg, Heideveld, Valhalla Park, Kalksteenfontein, Uitsig, Ravensmead and Athlone), and they also participate in presentations at schools in these areas. This campaign has spread to other parts of the country. We facilitate the process and provide resources to participants who want to present the programme in their communities. 19 September 2003 | Ds. Pietie Victor is op hierdie dag tydens ’n skietgeveg met rowers in Durbanville doodgeskiet toe hy sy buurvrou probeer help het. So het hy gesterf soos hy geleef het: altyd bereid om die onskuldige, die weerlose te help, ’n dienswillige en toegewyde kneg in die Here se diens.

Ds. Victor was as NG predikant wyd bekend vir sy werk onder haweloses, onder meer in Wynberg, waar hy op 18 Augustus 1935 gebore is en waar ’n betekenisvolle deel van sy lewensverhaal afgespeel het.

As kind was hy baie siek weens asma, allergieë en ’n longkwaal en het dokters nie gedink hy sou grootword nie, maar hy was van kleins af ’n vegter en het volkome herstel. Later het hy vir die eerste span rugby gespeel en op die atletiekbaan talle rekords laat spat.
Hy het sy skoolopleiding aan die Laerskool Nassau in Observatory begin en in 1952 aan die Hoërskool Nassau in Mowbray voltooi.
Die skoolleuse, “Ek sal handhaaf”, het ook sy lewensleuse geword.

In Wynberg was hy voorsitter van die KJV, koorlid en voorsitter van die grootste volkspele-laer in die gebied. In die geskiedkundige NG Gemeente Wynberg was hy diaken, ouderling en later predikant.
Victor is op 21 Mei 1960 in die NG kerk Wellington-Noord met Anna Aletta Prins getroud. Annette is ’n gekwalifiseerde maatskaplike werker wat haar man bygestaan en ondersteun het.

Twee dogters is uit die huwelik gebore, Lizann en Madri. Albei het aan die Hoërskool Groote Schuur in Nuweland gematrikuleer waarby Nassau in 1978 ingelyf is en wat die leuse "Ek sal handhaaf" oorgeneem het.

Victor het in 1971 ná sy studie aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch die NG Kerk se straatwerkaksie begin, eers in die St. Stephen's-kerk en later in die Trovato-rehabilitasiesentrum in Wynberg. Hy was van 1985 tot 1996 leraar van die NG gemeente Wynberg en het bekend geword as die pionier-dominee wat die NG Kerk straat toe geneem het en weggooimense in liefde opgehelp het.

Met die 16de herdenking van sy sterfdag in 2019 het Lizann op Facebook geskryf: "Dankie vir positief wees en te midde van donker tye uit Pa se hart sê: Die Here is goed! Dankie vir geloof in Jesus wat nuut maak en vergewe. Dankie dat Pa so onvoorwaardelik kon vergewe. Deur Pa se dood moes ek ook my eie pad met vergifnis stap. Vandag wil ek te midde van die hartseer die lewe, en spesifiek Pa se lewe vier."
