The Empathologist Foundation We wholeheartedly embrace empathy, recognizing its profound impact on individuals facing various parenthood-related challenges.

The Empathologist Foundation is driven by a commitment to enhance the well-being of individuals who find themselves in difficult parenthood situations, with a special focus on those facing vulnerable circumstances, one empathic connection at a time!

At the core of our mission lies the belief in providing support and empowerment to those who have faced life-altering choices or are navigating th

These endeavours are designed not only to cultivate a sense of self-esteem and self-worth but also to bolster employability, enabling them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and confidence. Whether navigating the complexities of an undesired pregnancy, considering giving their child up for adoption, grappling with the emotional aftermath of adoption, struggling with postpartum depression, facing the difficulties of single parenthood, or navigating other dynamics such as foster care or guardianship, amongst others, we offer support and provide them with the resources and understanding they need to navigate these situations. Our diverse team comprises individuals from varied backgrounds and industries, brought together by a shared commitment to uplifting others. From social anthropology to advertising, from culinary arts to entrepreneurship, each member brings unique skills and perspectives. ✨ It’s the final weekend of the May StarBaby competition! ✨

We think we speak for many charities when we say that initiatives like StarBaby make a real difference. Their generosity has helped organisations across South Africa continue serving their communities, and this month we have been fortunate enough to be one of them. 💛

Every vote not only supports your favourite little star, but also helps organisations like ours continue creating opportunities, providing support, and walking alongside those who need it most.

And let’s be honest... the finalists are waiting very patiently for your votes! 😉🌟

If you haven’t chosen your favourite yet, this is the perfect weekend to do so.

We still pinch ourselves sometimes to check whether this is really happening… and it is. ✨

The Empathologist Foundation finally has its own HOME. A space for conversations, trainings, support, laughter, planning, dreaming, and community.

And we are not the only ones enjoying it. The newest addition to the family, Joey, has quickly become part of the office spirit, keeping us company and bringing so much care and joy to everyone who walks through the door.

But none of this would have been possible without the support of StarBaby, who gave us the wings to take this next step.

To two incredibly kind friends, Steven and Georgie Graham, who the moment they heard we were moving into an empty space, put all their energy and love into helping us find the pieces that could make this office feel like home.

And to the Neighbourgood family for making space for us at Church House.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and belief in what we do.

The Empathologist has a home thanks to all of you, and we are so excited about everything that is already beginning to happen within these walls. ✨

Some meetings leave you energised long after the conversation ends.

Yesterday we had the privilege of welcoming Xolisa Sinegu to our office, an experienced psychiatric and research nurse with more than 11 years of experience in mental health care and a Master’s degree in Psychiatry.

What resonated deeply with us was learning more about his work as founder and director of Yizani Kuthi NPC, mentoring boys and providing free mental health services to the community of Dunoon and surrounding areas. His passion for youth development, mental health awareness, and community empowerment reflects the kind of compassionate leadership our society needs.

One does not always have the chance to pause for conversations that truly inspire, where collaborations begin to take shape and opportunities for meaningful impact grow. This meeting left us hopeful, encouraged, and excited for what the future may bring. 🤍

Thank you Xolisa for your visit!

On the 23rd of April, for World Book Day, we shared an image of girls reading and hinted that something beautiful was brewing at The Voice of an Angel Baby Nursery and Girls Club… and now, that image has become reality ✨

Magic truly happens when likeminded people and organisations come together. Thanks to the generosity of Tania Kliphuis and The Otto Foundation, our girls are now discovering the joy of reading for pleasure, sitting together in a warm and welcoming space filled with wonderful new books 📚🤍

And this is only the beginning… The Girls Reading Club is officially brewing. Keep an eye on this space.

Thank you, Tania and The Otto Foundation, for collaborating with us and helping us open new worlds through reading.

✨ It’s hard to believe that there are only 10 days left in the May StarBaby competition… 💛

Over the past years, StarBaby has done something truly special, turning little smiles, proud parents, and joyful moments into real support for organisations across South Africa, donating more than R5.7 million to charities along the way. 🌟

This month, we have had the privilege of being part of that journey once again. And every vote, every share, and every little act of support helps us continue walking alongside biological mothers before and after adoption, with care, dignity, and hope.

To everyone who has supported the competition so far: thank you for helping turn something fun and beautiful into something deeply meaningful. 👶✨

🎶 It’s a new day… It’s a new smile… It’s a Nutrific breakfast for these little ones 🧡🎶

As every month, the donation from Nutrific has arrived at The Voice of an Angel Baby Nursery, and once again the room filled with excitement, tiny dancing feet, laughter, and happy chaos.

Sometimes the photos come out blurry… but maybe that’s because joy rarely stands still.

Behind every bowl of breakfast there is something bigger:
A child growing stronger.
A mother breathing a little easier.
A family receiving one more chance to move forward.

This is what community looks like.
Not grand gestures, but consistent love arriving month after month.

And honestly… today feels good. ✨

EVERYDAY SUPERHEROS ✨

We have had the incredible privilege of watching grow into the amazing human being she is today. Emma is not only one of the kindest souls we know, but also someone deeply committed to diversity, inclusion, and telling stories that matter, something she reflects both in her everyday life and in her studies.

Some time ago, we had the joy of speaking with her about our adoption journey, the realities faced by biological mothers, and the emotional complexities surrounding adoption. What we never imagined was how beautifully she would carry those conversations into her final studies project.

And what was our surprise when we read the following:
“With Love is a social impact campaign built around a narrative picture book that introduces the Doodle family. Mommy Inky, Daddy Scribble, and their curious little one, Baby Stamp, the Postman of Forgotten Dreams who delivers letters never received. This playful family, formed through adoption, brings to life a story that fills two key gaps in adoption literature: the absence of a true narrative and the missing perspective of the birth mother. The book’s primary tale follows Baby Stamp’s adventures of belonging and discovery, with adoption explored as a gentle secondary focus. The campaign extends into a hand-bound book, an interactive 3D post office diorama where viewers can post their own dreams, and OOH elements raising awareness and funds for The Empathologist, an NGO supporting birth mothers.” Blomerus shares in her campaign.

Emma’s project, With Love, has now earned her an international Student Merit Award at The One Club for Creativity’s 2026 Young Ones Awards, one of the world’s most respected student competitions in advertising and design.
Her work was the only project selected from an African institution in the Illustration / Print category, and we honestly could not be prouder.

Thank you, Emma, for using your creativity to create empathy, awareness, and change. ❤️

✨ A little reminder from us this May… 🌟

If you haven’t yet voted for your favourite StarBaby, there’s still time to join the fun while supporting a meaningful cause. 💛

This month, every vote helps the Empathologist Foundation continue supporting biological mothers before and after adoption, through care, community, and opportunities to rebuild stability and independence.

And honestly… seeing so many beautiful little stars while making a difference at the same time feels pretty special. ✨

Thank you to everyone who has already entered, voted, shared, and supported this journey with us.
