Invitation for new members to join the Cape Town Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (CTSPP)
Do you work psychoanalytically and are you looking for a group of like-minded colleagues to share with and learn from?
The Cape Town Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy welcomes practitioners from different professions who practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy, including psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, and clinical social workers.
The CTSPP is a professional non-profit association, established in 1984. We meet on the first Monday of the month from February to November in Rondebosch. Our meetings are CPD accredited. The organization provides a collegial home for psychoanalytic psychotherapists to discuss case presentations and theory, using relevant papers from professional journals and books. Our Ethics Committee organises CPD accredited ethics workshops and advises and supports members on questions relating to ethical issues.
If you are registered with a formal Council (HPCSA, SANC, SACSSP), have had/are having psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and are in ongoing psychoanalytic supervision for your clinical work, do consider joining us!

PSYCHOANALYSIS AND ECOLOGY: An Introduction with Siobhan Sweeney

I am running a 7 online seminar introductory course on "Psychoanalysis and Ecology" where we will be drawing from psychoanalytic thinking to understand our complex yet deeply meaningful relationship to our natural environment, Mother Earth, as well as explore the impact of natural elements, species, spaces and changes on our subjective mental health. The course takes place monthly, starting from the 30th of May and has been approved for 14 CPD points.

A MESSAGE FROM SAPI COLLEGE:

We are very excited about the Theory Modules to be offered by the SAPI College this year. These seminars are open to all clinicians interested in psychoanalytic thought and application. Thank you if you have already registered for modules, but please feel free to share this email more widely than the SAPI community so that we can attract new people to our psychoanalytic community.

Attached you will find the 2025 Calendar. Most of the theory modules are made up of 3 online seminars, offered via Zoom on Thursday evenings 19.30 - 21.30. None of the seminars will be recorded.

Beginning later this month is a 9-seminar module on Freud to be taught by Gyuri Fodor. If you wish to register for this module, you are encouraged to do so soonest as there are prescribed readings that will need to be read before the first seminar. I attach the information sheet.
