The white victimhood narrative in South Africa is challenged by the Interim Executive Director of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, Dr Fanie du Toit. He spoke to Reuters and maintained that data does not support the claim that white South Africans as a group are oppressed or unsafe, said Du Toit, a member of "Afrikaners for South Africa," a group speaking out against this narrative.

The Cross-Cohort Learning and Knowledge Sharing Workshop to Operationalise a Regional Civil Society Platform on Transitional Justice and Reconciliation is now underway in Addis Ababa.

The primary objective of this workshop is to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of TJ&R approaches from across the Horn of Africa, to strengthen the implementation of inclusive, victim-centred, context-responsive and human rights-compliant TJ&R measures. The workshop will foster comprehensive reflections and facilitate a structured exchange of experiences, unique challenges, and good practices among CSOs and CBOs in their engagement with transitional justice and reconciliation mechanisms. By synthesising various national and sub-national TJR models and trends in the Horn of Africa, the workshop seeks to assist CSOs and CBOs in identifying solutions to common problems in a manner that is rooted in collective experiences.
