Widows In Africa

Widows In Africa We are a community of people who value compassion, mutual support, understanding, diversity, integrity and relationships (Isaiah 1v17)

As a little girl I always wanted to start an organisation that helps, widows, abused women and orphans. Being an orphan myself I saw the challenges that one has to face growing up. My father passed away on the 1st of July 1997 and my mother had to raise the 3 of us only from a Headmistress salary which was never enough. We were blessed enough not to have relatives take away our home. We were suppo

rted by the church at that time there was USAID in Zimbabwe. This encouraged me even more to want to help other people who walk this same journey as I did. For years (20years to be exact) I have dreamt of the day I will help widows, abused women and children that have lost their parent(s). As years went by I started realising that it is more than just giving them clothes, food, or money. It is about supporting the Widows on our continent, they need bereavement support, legal support, medical help to mention but a few. This is how Widows In Africa came to existance. We are here to work with and support the Widows In Africa. My dream is to see a widow being a respected member of our society, make people understand that when a husband dies it is not the wife that kills her husband. Make the relatives realise that that home they are taking away from the widow and her children is the one thing they need so dearly at this time of mourning. Widows In Africa is here to fight for the widows and orphans' justice, to encourage them and to plead for their cases.
