People's Environmental Planning

People's Environmental Planning PEP is a not-for-profit organisation (054-862-NPO) that has supported organised communities in informal settlements (slums) around South Africa since mid 1998.

Shawn Cuff (a qualified architect) established PEP to provide technical housing assistance to the South African Homeless People’s Federation and subsequently the Federation of the Urban Poor (FEDUP). Over the next decade PEP assisted poor communities affiliated to FEDUP design, plan and build houses across South Africa. In this time PEP has adapted to the many shifts in the local housing environme

Last nights community meeting in Witsand to prepare for the installation of 450 wall-mounted solar lights in partnership with Global Business Solutions SA , LEDVANCE and Misereor .Installation is scheduled to begin early June with 300 more lights to be installed in Hammanskraal Tshwane starting September. Flooding in RR section after the heavy rains this weekend. PEP will be assist the RR community with temporary flood interventions, including clean-up initiatives, early warning measures, coordination with Disaster Risk, and identifying safe areas for residents during flooding.
