From training to real-world opportunities!

Our first cohort of Solar PV Mounter NEETs students are already putting their skills into practice.

Two of our learners, Kelli-Kim Akim and Chenecka Fondling, were selected for Workplace Experiential Training at Fruitpak packaging company in Ashton, where they joined a nine-person team installing 1,080 solar panels on the warehouse rooftop.

Their experience is providing valuable hands-on exposure to the renewable-energy industry while highlighting the growing opportunities for young women to build careers in this sector.

The Waves of Change programme welcomed the National Gambling Board of South Africa for a three-day awareness visit aimed at educating learners about the dangers and potential consequences of gambling addiction.

More than 30 learners participated in the sessions, with each session lasting approximately one and a half hours. The visit provided learners with an opportunity to engage directly with the National Gambling Board and gain a better understanding of the risks associated with gambling, including how problematic gambling can affect personal, social and financial well-being.

We are incredibly proud of our Learn to Live School of Skills Marimba Band, who recently participated in the Western Cape Eisteddfod 2026 at Fish Hoek High School, achieving an outstanding 93% A+ certificate! 🏆

Having progressed from their basic training, the learners are now entering the intermediate phase of their marimba journey - continuing to develop their musical abilities, confidence and teamwork.

Through marimba instruments, percussion and drumming, our learners also receive Life Skills training, using music as a powerful tool to build discipline, creativity, self-expression and collaboration.

Today, the band is performing once again at the next Eisteddfod competition at Rollim School in Sunnydale.

We wish our learners all the very best for their performance today! Give it your all and make us proud!

We were truly honoured to welcome Dr Thomas Frontzek, CEO of TED Software Development, and Mr Sandor Kronert, CEO of the Bonn Dance House, from Germany, for a meaningful three-day workshop with our NEETs learners from the Solar and Entrepreneurship programme. Drawing from their expertise and experience, they guided our learners through the process of transforming a business idea into a structured business plan, encouraging them to think creatively, believe in their ideas and explore their entrepreneurial potential. Our learners embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly, developing inspiring business concepts that were presented as part of a competition, with the winning teams receiving well-deserved prizes.

The visit also brought a beautiful cultural exchange between South Africa and Germany, with Mr Kronert sharing his passion for dance and joining our learners in lessons filled with joy, connection and creativity. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Frontzek and Mr Kronert for sharing not only their knowledge and expertise, but also their time, passion and encouragement with our young people. The workshop may have lasted three days, but the confidence, inspiration and possibilities they sparked in our learners will continue long after their departure. Thank you for investing in our youth and for reminding them that their ideas, talents and dreams have the power to shape their futures.

There is something truly powerful about people coming together with a shared commitment to serve and uplift others. This Mandela Day, that collective spirit translated into tangible impact: approximately 3,915 litres of soup prepared and distributed, 6,800 sandwiches made and served, 60 of 4kg bags of vegetable soup mix donated, and 11 community kitchens and feeding stations reached across the Cape Flats.

Behind each figure is a meal shared, a community supported and a reminder that meaningful change is possible when we choose to show up for one another. We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave their time, energy and generosity to help us honour Madiba’s legacy through meaningful service.

We hope to welcome you back next year as we continue to serve, give back and create lasting impact together. ❤️

A milestone worth celebrating!

More than 50 young people graduated from our Waves of Change programme, marking a significant achievement for both our students and our organisation. This graduation is especially meaningful as it is the first Waves of Change graduation in over three years, making the moment even more memorable for everyone involved.

Waves of Change equips young people with the confidence, life skills, resilience, and opportunities they need to navigate their futures with purpose. Seeing this many graduates step forward into the next chapter of their journey is a powerful reminder of what is possible when young people are supported and empowered.
