Youth Day 2026 | Honouring the Past, Empowering the Future

Today, we remember the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the young people who stood up for their rights and their future. The youth of 1976 showed extraordinary bravery in the face of injustice, reminding us that young voices have the power to create meaningful change.

As we reflect on their legacy, we are called to continue building a future where every young person is seen, heard, and supported.

At The Youth Hub, we believe that caring for the well-being of our youth is part of honouring the dreams they fought for. Through our free counselling services for adolescents aged 13–18 years old, we strive to create safe spaces where young people can find support, develop resilience, and unlock their full potential.

This Youth Day, let us celebrate the strength of young people—not only for what they have overcome, but for everything they can become.

🦋 Your voice matters.
🦋 Your dreams matter.
🦋Your mental health matters.

To every young person: be proud of how far you have come, and be hopeful about how far you can go.

The Youth Hub Outreach at Pinelands High School🦋

On Friday, 8th May 2026, our student registered counsellor's Rea and Nicola had the opportunity to engage with +- 400 students at Pinelands High School on the topic of boundaries and the importance of saying no.

The session was interactive, informative and created space for meaningful conversations around healthy boundaries, self-respect and personal safety among adolescents.

We are grateful to collaborate with the Student Wellness team, Ms Wendy Adriaanse (Academic Support Officer) and Ms Lindsay Jonkerman (School Counsellor), in supporting the wellbeing of young people and creating safer, healthier school communities.

The Team was supported by The Youth Hub Project Manager and Registered Counsellor Genevieve Burrow, They Youth Hub Project Coordinator Mishqah Geldenhuys and The Groote Schuur Hospital Adolescent Centre of Excellence Medical Officer Doctor Ashley Philip.
