It's the Season of Compassion: Give the Gift of Justice for

On Tuesday 10 October, our Justice Desk Africa team spent the day at St Mary's. In the morning our team facilitated 2 talks with the primary school children at St Mary's Prep and in the afternoon the team facilitated another two talks at St Mary's College.

The morning talks focused on South Africa with its vibrant history, people, and cultures. Students learned about the importance of being a good citizen, of caring for others and our planet earth, as well as the importance of promoting equality everywhere you go.

At the conclusion of the day, the school's Head Teacher presented Justice Desk Africa with a donation of 250 pounds, to support our work. A massive thank you to this wonderful school for welcoming us so lovingly and for their amazing support of our work!

At St Mary's College we spoke with two different classes of students, encouraging and inspiring teachers and young people to get involved in activism work and be part of efforts to create effective change for the better. After the talks, various students were invited to stay and learn more from our team. Students were extremely eager to learn about the many advocacy initiatives being led by our very own Youth Ambassadors across Africa, and how they could do the same in their country.

A big thank you to the Edmund Rice Network office in England for making this trip happen!

Our Justice Desk Team spent the day at St Aidan's Catholic Academy in Sunderland, training students in 3 sessions. The school's core values are hard work, trust, and fairness. Their values-driven policies, clear vision, and consistent routines demand and nurture a strong sense of moral purpose, personal responsibility, integrity, honesty, and respect for others among their students.

Our team ran three training sessions with various groups of students focused on our concept of Everyday Activism. Students were taught about the difference between works of charity and justice and were equipped with powerful tools that could be used by students to advocate for a more just and equal society. The students were incredibly focused as they grappled with the importance of our lesson, and left feeling inspired and eager to start their advocacy campaigns in their schools. We were incredibly happy to see the students' commitment to engaging in works of justice, and in supporting their future Youth Ambassadors in their work.

A massive thank you to the Edmund Rice Network office in England for sponsoring, hosting, and coordinating our UK tour.

As part of our team's UK tour, they were invited to be the keynote speakers at the Edmund Rice Schools Network annual Teachers Conference.

Our team led a full day of training on all things human rights, social justice, and everyday activism. The aim was to educate and inspire teachers so that they would go back to their schools, and lead their students in works of advocacy. Our Mbokodo girls also led sessions on gender-based violence and even ended the day off with a self-defense class which was enjoyed by all!

The day was filled with activities, videos, dance challenges, and much more, as our team took the participants on a journey of justice. Students were able to access various Justice Desk Africa training and educational materials as well as have one-on-one discussions with our team on their individual school contexts and how they could make a difference.

A massive thank you to the Edmund Rice Network office in England for sponsoring, hosting, and coordinating our UK tour.
