πŸ’š Child Protection Week may be over, but our commitment to children continues to grow.
At Badisa, child protection is not limited to one week or one month. Every day of the year, our social workers and child protection teams work to create safe spaces where children can grow, heal, and thrive. Child protection is about more than responding to crises; it is about nurturing hope, building resilience, and helping children reach their full potential.

As we reflect on this month's theme of Growth, we are reminded that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by care.

🌸 The Poppie Project is one way you can help make that possible. Each Poppie represents a child receiving care and protection through Badisa's services. By adopting a Poppie, you help raise awareness for child protection while supporting the ongoing work of caring for children in need. The project gives a voice to children whose stories often go unheard.

🌱 Adopt your Poppie for only R150.

πŸ’š Investing in the future means protecting, empowering, and inspiring the next generation.
As part of Child Protection Week, the Badisa Clanwilliam Social Work Office participated in a local Career Day, engaging with learners and sharing insights into the rewarding profession of social work. By providing career guidance and exposing young people to opportunities within the social services sector, the team helped learners explore their strengths and make informed decisions about their future.

The office also proudly supports Badisa's Child Protection Week campaign, with awareness posters displayed alongside Poppie Project wristbands, "Poppies" and magnets, helping to spark important conversations about protecting children and creating safer communities.

Child Protection Week reminds us that every child deserves safety, opportunity, and the support needed to reach their full potential. Through awareness and education, Badisa continues to work towards a future where children can grow, thrive, and dream without fear. πŸ’š

πŸ’š Self-Care Starts With You
As women, we often carry so much… Responsibilities, relationships, work, family, and community. We keep many balls in the air, sometimes forgetting that caring for ourselves is one of the most important ones. Remember: β€œYou can’t serve from an empty cup”.

Badisa is proud to join the South African Council for Women in Business for a meaningful conversation on self-care, led by Adrie Jurgensen from Badisa. Together, participants will reflect on what it means to intentionally make themselves a priority, recognise what truly matters, and gently let go of what no longer serves them.

At Badisa, we know that self-care is closely connected to emotional resilience, the ability to pause, breathe, process emotions, and find healthy ways to cope.

Self-care is not selfish. It is part of how we grow stronger, kinder, and more present for ourselves, our families, and the communities we serve.

πŸ’šπŸ’™ World Foster Day | Child Protection Week 2026
As part of Child Protection Week and in recognition of World Foster Day, Badisa TRIO Scottsdene hosted a special gathering to celebrate the vital role foster parents play in the lives of children.

The event was also honoured by the presence of Sarah Helena Roberts, Childrens Commissioner WC, whose participation reinforced the importance of foster care and the collective responsibility of protecting and supporting children.

Psychology students from Goldilocks and The Bear shared valuable information on ADHD and practical ways to support children living with the condition. A heartfelt couch discussion, facilitated by Badisa Trio social worker Mrs Merlee Banies, featured foster parents Mr and Mrs Lewis, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between foster families, social workers, educators, medical professionals, and therapists in helping children thrive.

This Child Protection Week, Badisa celebrates the foster parents, professionals, and partners who work together to create safe, nurturing environments where children can heal, grow, and build brighter futures. 🌱

🌱 Growth is not something that happens overnight. It is nurtured through care, support, learning, and collaboration.
During Child Protection Week, Badisa programmes are joining hands with schools, community members, government departments, SAPS, and other stakeholders to raise awareness and strengthen the safety net around children. These partnerships remind us that protecting children is a shared responsibility and that lasting change and growth happen when communities work together.

πŸ’š At Badisa, we see every day how lives are transformed when people take hands and support one another.

πŸ’š Walking together for child protection in Riviersonderend πŸ’š
Badisa Riviersonderend joined hands with local SAPS, Traffic Services, the Community Police Forum, the Department of Social Development, the Community Learning Centre, and Sonskyn Dienssentrum (a Badisa programme) to raise awareness about child protection in the community.

Participants walked through Riviersonderend, engaging residents in the importance of keeping children safe. The focus was on child protection, reporting procedures, and recognising signs of neglect and abuse.

Zane Morris from Badisa Riviersonderend and the Department of Social Development also facilitated an awareness session with safety and foster parents.

Well-informed communities can work together to create safer environments where every child is protected, valued, and allowed to thrive and grow. 🌱

Badisa West Coast/Weskus thanks HoΓ«rskool Weston High School and Curro Langebaan for their support and partnership during Child Protection Week.

At Curro Langebaan, Badisa West Coast and SAPS of the Saldanha Bay Municipality had the privilege of engaging learners on important topics such as children's rights and responsibilities, bullying awareness, and personal safety.

A special word of appreciation to the teachers and learners of Weston High School for proudly supporting the Poppie Project by wearing their Poppie stickers and helping to raise awareness for child protection. The Poppie Project gives a voice to children affected by abuse, neglect, and trauma while encouraging communities to stand together for their protection.

Badisa is always proud to see our programmes collaborating with schools and communities to help create safer environments for children, while empowering children with knowledge about their rights and safety.πŸ’š
