CCSA Boland Region Camping Weekend

What an absolute gem of a camping weekend we had at Die Hut in Moorreesburg from 12 to 16 June 2026!
With a “small but mighty” turnout of four caravans, this rally proved once again that you don’t need a crowd to have a fantastic time — just the right people, a good sense of humour, and plenty of food! We were also thoroughly spoiled with beautiful weather, which behaved far better than some of our campers’ packing skills…
Each campsite came with its own private ablution and hot tub (yes, you read that right!), as well as free WiFi — so technically we were “roughing it” in absolute luxury. Unfortunately, in a shocking turn of events, we completely failed to take advantage of the hot tubs… something we are all now deeply regretting. Needless to say, a return trip is definitely on the cards — and next time, the hot tubs are non-negotiable!
Friday evening kicked off with a classic camping tale: Theuns and Teresa had to gatecrash Louise’s braai after allegedly leaving their braai grid at home — only for said grid to magically reappear in Theuns’s boot on Tuesday morning. We’re still not sure if this was forgetfulness or just a clever way to score an invite!
Saturday night brought out the pots, with Louise once again stealing the show with her award-winning pasta potjie. At this rate, we may need to start issuing trophies — or at least securing the recipe under lock and key.
Sunday afternoon saw Theuns and Teresa redeem themselves by hosting a delicious vetkoek feast with mince, cheese, and jam — a combination that had everyone going back for “just one more.” As if that wasn’t enough, Sunday evening turned into a full-on feast when Franco and LeeAnne treated us to a proper pap and sous braai, complete with lamb chops and steak that could rival any restaurant.
Speaking of restaurants, Monday evening the whole campsite headed out for a meal together, where we enjoyed not only a delicious dinner but also a wonderful evening of laughter and socialising — and possibly making a few new friends along the way.
This weekend was a perfect reminder that it’s not about how many caravans are parked, but about the memories made between them. From missing braai grids to missed hot tub opportunities, the laughter and camaraderie were truly what made this rally so special.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed — whether it was cooking, hosting, or simply bringing the gees. You made it a weekend to remember!
We look forward to the next adventure… with swimsuits packed and hot tubs fully utilised.
