From classrooms to competitive gaming
We are incredibly proud of our students who recently achieved outstanding success in both competitive gaming and esports competitions.
Earlier this month, ten Christel House South Africa students represented our school at the Toyota Gaming Engine EAFC 26 Tournament at Comic Con Cape Town 2026, competing against learners from other schools. Our Grade 7 student Liam O. emerged as the overall tournament champion. His incredible performance earned him the Comic Con title as well as a Takealot voucher.
Liam, who lives in Manenberg with his mother and siblings, is involved in esports at our school and enjoys gaming with his cousins at home. Reflecting on his passion for esports, Liam shared: “I enjoy e-sports because it’s competitive, fun and gives me a chance to challenge myself and constantly improve.”
Beyond gaming, Liam hopes to one day become an engineer because of his passion for problem-solving and figuring out how things work.
Joining Liam among the top performers were:
• Abdudayaan B. – 2nd place
• Carlyle A. – 3rd place
• Sibu K. – 4th place
Our students also recently competed at the Regional esports event at Curro Durbanville, where all four teams made it to the semi-finals, with our High School Minecraft Build Battle Team winning the competition and qualifying for the National Event in Gauteng later this year.
These achievements highlight the exciting ways esports can help students build confidence, teamwork, creativity, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
A special thank you to our High School Head of ICT, Mr Cedric, and Junior School Head of ICT, Maths and Robotics teacher, Ms Beverley, whose dedication, guidance, and coaching played such an important role in supporting and developing our teams.
We would like to thank ACGL and The Toyota Gaming Engine for inviting our students to be part of this exciting experience.
Congratulations to all our students for representing Christel House South Africa with such passion and excellence!
