Classification in para sport has four stages: medical assessment, physical and/or technical assessment, observation in competition and sport class allocation. It’s about how impairment affects performance, not how it looks or diagnosis alone. At , this happens on 27 March to ensure fair competition.

In conjunction with the Toyota SASAPD National Championships, SASAPD will be hosting a Multi-Code Classification Foundation Course in the Western Cape this March.

Classification is the cornerstone of fair competition in Para sport β€” ensuring that success is determined by skill, fitness, tactics and mental focus, while minimising the impact of impairment on results.

This course is designed to strengthen understanding across multiple sport codes and to grow the next generation of classifiers in South Africa.

This clinic is aimed at:
β€’ Athletes competing as seated throwers
β€’ Athletes selected for the Western Cape Team
β€’ Coaches of seated throwers
β€’ Anyone interested in learning more about seated throwing techniques and rules

Fundamental seated throwing techniques, technical rules and requirements, and practical guidance for athletes and coaches.

πŸ”Ή What to bring:
Sports attire, personal throwing straps, and a water bottle.
(Throwing frames and anchoring equipment optional.)

Athletes will Get their race numbers at the table at the back of stadium.
If you have pins, please bring. I do have some pins.
Present yourself 30minutes before the event at the call room - see table close to the KIOSK sign.
Those with outstanding entry fees, please pay asap. Invoices were send to Clubs/School who has not paid yet.
Could clubs please see if they can bring volunteers to assist. A list will be send to indicate where they want to assist.
ONLY REGISTERED vehicles allowed inside
