In the Rain and Cold; Food Parcels for Over 500 People

This project took a lot of planning and preparing, yet really came together not by our own efforts, but by a series of miracles! From different sources, we received instant noodles, cereal, sauces, coffee, tea, rusks, soup, peanuts and raisins, tissue paper, and even chocolates!

Then, one gentleman, upon hearing of our plans to give everyone a substantial food parcel, suddenly donated enough carrots to give EACH PERSON a whole 5kg bag! Incredible! And at the last minute, we were able to add bananas, apples, and oranges!

Because of the thousands of kilos of carrots, both of our vans were at capacity, and we had to borrow an additional three bakkies to bring all the food to the township. Thank you so very much to everyone who helped with food, sponsorship, bakkies, and volunteering on the wet and cold day!

As you can see from the photos below, the food was gratefully received, and everything was orderly and blessed through the hours of distribution!

Teaching Others to Teach Others! -Facilitating Gospel Outreach

For many years since first meeting at a Grahamstown Festival Outreach, Michelle has been following up on and ministering to this dear gentlemen “V.” He’s mentioned that he passes on our devotional audios to many of his contacts, and that so many people look forward to receiving them weekly. He also gives out Gospel tracts regularly to customers and strangers alike; sharing with them the truth he has learned. So this visit, we were excited to equip him with a whole box of tracts, Activated magazines, and other devotional books to use in his own witnessing and winning efforts! What a joy to see our teaching and training bearing fruit and leading to others spreading the Gospel as well! (2 Timothy 2:2)

A Very Special Sunday School!

A wonderful Christmas experience arrived for 91 dear children from our Sunday School in Morningstar informal settlement! They were so excited as soon as we unloaded the lovely sponsored treat bags; and even much more upon seeing the variety of toys for younger and older!

After a prayer, we began giving out the gifts! Each child went home with a pack of treats and a toy of their choosing! How lovely to see their shocked faces and smiles as they received the goodies, and wave goodbye with a reminder to each one that “Jesus Loves you!”

Christmas Day: A Three Course Meal for the Homeless!

As part of our Celebration, we focused on bringing the spirit of Christmas – God’s Love – to as many as possible. We put up an invite sign on our gate and served a special three course meal – complete with dessert – to anyone who came in. (Special mention to those who donated the pasta, potato, and fruit salads, as well as the friends who got up early to cook and then deliver a massive pot of rice and chicken! And of course the ladies here at the mission who cooked and prepared a whole lot of meals) And all the food was gladly received! One young man said as he sat devouring the main course “you know, I’ve been hungry all day. I’ve been looking in all the bins for something to eat. I think God guided me here to your gate.” With tears in our eyes, we wholeheartedly agreed.

Another team packed many trays of food into a car, and drove around the neighborhood, serving food to those in need. The reactions were so beautiful! We are so grateful to have been on the ground, spreading Christmas Love to these dear ones.
We also took a meal to the local police station; a small way to thank these community servants for all they do throughout the year. What a Merry Christmas Day!

Christmas Means Love … and Toys and Food and Gifts!

It is especially difficult at Christmas for those who barely have enough to survive, much less celebrate. We’re so grateful to have been able to bring a bit of Christmas joy to two desperate communities through the distribution of food, all kinds of toys, lovely sponsored luxury treat bags, and Gospel material for adults and kids!

Gifts, Goodies and Christmas Cheer for Children at Creche!

The dear children at this low-budget creche were overjoyed when we arrived with boxes filled with presents, goodie bags and booklets for them.

We had previously asked the teachers for a list of the children’s names and ages and the little ones almost couldn’t believe it when we called them, one-by-one, with a gift just for them!
Before we handed out each gift, Timothy played a dance game of ‘follow-the-leader’ with them, which they greatly enjoyed.

Michelle then led a small group of children in prayer to receive Jesus as their own best friend (we had prayed with the other children on another visit)

The Lord had supplied wonderful gifts for each child and it really touched our hearts to see them being so sweet and appreciative and looking with wonder at their special presents.
Ester then gave each child a sponsored luxury goodie bag filled with treats and special gifts, and the teachers too were treated to a bag filled with different food items and special Christmas goodies.

The atmosphere couldn’t have been more festive and merry! What a Christmas Party!

Supplies and Surprises

We continue to assist underprivileged creches, quadriplegic homes, orphanages, soup kitchens, and feeding schemes nearly every day of the week! Thank you Lord for providing – through the kindness and open hearts of others – so many staple items of all types, to benefit those in great need. Sometimes we get a call out of the blue to collect – loads which can range from hundreds of kg of soup bones, to tissue paper, to maize, oats, or more! These surprises encourage us and keep us motivated to keep pouring out and doing our best, even when it is tough.

Note: we are blessed to receive many items in kind, which we readily distribute – as a mission our biggest need right now is more finances to cover costs such as petrol, electricity, airtime, etc.

Inspiring one-on-one youth outreach and street evangelization resulted in the following immediate, known results:…

16 Decisions for Jesus

2450 Gospel tracts distributed

Over 50 Bibles, Activated magazines, and other faith-building books given out

We prayed for many personal prayer requests, discussed issues, encouraged, and followed up!

(For part of Saturday, even the children were able to come to Hermanus and join in – handing out tracts and sharing a cheerful “Jesus Loves You” with many passersby.)

Love in Action – Two Vans of Needed Foodstuffs for Communities

Hundreds of men, women, and children in nearby rural areas benefited from these food parcels –two vanloads of fresh fruit, vegetables, sugar, oats, cheese, energy drink, raisins, tea, rusks, tissue paper, and more divided into bags for each one! Although we wish we could do so much more, we know that every bit of help, and especially every bit of love, is well worth it and has an impact beyond the immediate.

Hampers for Happy Moms and Babies at Four Clinics!

At any time and in whatever circumstance, being a mom is a lot of hard work, and deserves recognition and respect!

It was absolutely wonderful to see the thankful smiles of mothers (and curious interest from their little ones) as we gave them hampers – packed with clothes, shoes, a blanket, nappies, a toy, tissue paper, sunscreen, warm-up baby bean bags, soaps, a facecloth, and a Gospel magazine!

Mothers at four clinics received these gifts, and we pray all the items will truly be a help and reminder that Jesus cares about them!

Supplies and Spiritual Input

We’ve been busy preparing and delivering supplies to various centres all around the city – a creche for underprivileged children, two quadriplegic homes, and a refuge for abused women and children. We always spend time talking with and encouraging those at each place, and leave Gospel material for them to enjoy further!

Younger and Older (over 200 Individuals) Receive Winter Staples

We had planned and prayed for these food distributions, and the Lord really came through! The DAY before, we were given hundreds of kgs of oats (unsolicited and out of the blue!) which we packed into individual bags. Then there were raisins, carrots, potatoes, apples, naartjies, bread, (which arrived on the morning of distribution!) tissue paper, and Gospel tracts!
