BeadMe Foundation

BeadMe Foundation A community based project focused on womxn and children exposed to abuse. The bracelet will also symbolise that they are survivors of abuse.

This project initially started in August 2014, during a short groupwork visit at a local school in the Winelands district. Children in this group (age 12 -14) shared their experiences of abuse within their family system and household. As result and crucial cause of of this incidents the children was traumatized and to mention a few, struggled with a low self esteem, lacking selfworth, etc. This pro

blems also influence their ability to excel on different levels academically, emotionally and physically. It was then decided to start a short term based community project named as BeadMe where we as adults respect these children and their circumstances. Every child had the privilege to design and create their own bracelet according to the characteristics known to them. The main focus of this beadwork project was to restore broken hearts ,low self esteems and to create a safe space where they can share their experiences in confidentiality with social workers and volunteers. Not only does this bracelet project focus on healing broken hearts but also to educate them and future survivors abot their responsibility and rights as a survivor of abuse.
