Sharon McKenzie
Hello and welcome to my page,
I have always been interested in the power of the human mind, how it works and how our experiences impact the way in which we react or adapt to certain things, and how this differs from person to person. I have spent over two decades in the world of primary health care of which counselling has formed an important part.
It is usually some form of distress often associated with challenges in our daily lives, or when life throws an unexpected ‘curve ball’ and we face a specific problem or challenge, or when we experience some form of unhappiness that people are often motivated to seek help. I believe that we all have the answers to solving our problems, but sometimes we need some help or support in overcoming issues, moving forward or reaching our full potential.
The type of counselling I offer is based on the principle of wellness and considers the person as a whole and assists people (individuals, families and groups) with the aim of enhancing emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. Each person is unique and so are their concerns/problems for that reason there is not a ‘one-size-fits all’ approach. I draw on my years of experience and training in order to offer the best approach/s for each client. I believe that the counselling space should be a safe place for the client to explore their issues freely and without judgement.
