We are honored to welcome Mamerto “Lagitan” Tindongan of the Ifugao people to the World Tribal Alliance.
An 8th-generation Mumbaki and guardian of the Baki spiritual tradition, Mamerto carries a lineage deeply rooted in ancestral wisdom, sacred ritual, and harmony with the natural world.
After spending nearly three decades in the United States, he returned to his homeland in the Cordillera region of the Philippines to help preserve and revitalize Ifugao traditions — from restoring ancestral huts and cultivating rice terraces to protecting sacred healing practices and community knowledge.
His life’s work is a bridge between worlds: ancient and modern, local and global, spiritual and practical.
Through the Ifugao Center for Living Culture, Mamerto continues to ensure that these teachings remain alive for future generations.
We are deeply grateful to walk alongside him in this shared journey of remembrance, preservation, and connection.
