Today at 12pm, we stand together.

Edufundi joins the Women for Change movement in calling for an end to Gender-Based Violence — a crisis that affects families, communities, classrooms, and the futures of our children.

Our hearts are with every woman, child, and family who has been harmed, silenced, or made to feel unsafe.

Our voices stand with every survivor who continues to rise.

Our commitment is to a South Africa where dignity, safety and humanity are non-negotiable.

At 12pm today, we pause in solidarity.
We reflect.
We honour.
We demand better.
And we stand united. 💜

Honouring Edufundi’s Journey

We share news that we know will come as a shock to many in our Edufundi family. After 26 meaningful years of walking alongside teachers and school leaders across South Africa, Edufundi will officially close its doors at the end of November 2025.

Despite determined efforts to secure funding for 2026, it became clear that continuing operations would not be possible. After thoughtful reflection, we chose to close with integrity and care, honouring all that has been achieved.

Though our organisational journey is ending, the heart of Edufundi will live on in our partner and alumni schools — in classrooms where strong teaching endures, in leaders who guide with purpose, and in learners who continue to unlock their potential.

We close with full hearts, knowing our work will continue in the hands of others. It has been our privilege to serve the teachers, schools, and communities who welcomed us into their learning journeys.

To our Edufundi team — thank you for giving your all, for showing up, and for believing in this work to the very end.

To all who have been part of this story, past and present — our board, funders, partners, educators, and friends — thank you. Your trust, commitment, and belief have helped shape lasting change in schools and communities throughout the provinces we’ve worked in.

As we close this chapter, we do so with deep gratitude and pride in all that we have achieved together.

We invite you to share a reflection or message below — a small way to honour the journey we’ve taken together and the light that continues to shine.

Meet the Edufundi Ops Team: Nwabisa Mange – Project Administrator, AKA The Human Archive

From volunteer to valued team member, Nwabisa’s Edufundi journey is a story of dedication, growth, and heart.

She first joined us in 2015 as a volunteer on the LiteraSEA Project, supporting literacy development for young learners at Intshinga Primary. A year later, joined Edufundi as an intern in 2016 and has since grown into a valued team member in a permanent role. From coordinating the mentor support team and two provincial teams, managing SACE accreditation to event planning and supporting travel logistics, Nwabisa keeps everything (and everyone) running smoothly.

Nwabisa is known for her strong work ethic, excellent memory, and ability to work independently. She thrives in structured environments where she can apply her attention to detail and reliability to support the team effectively. With a background in Business Administration and previous experience at Fezeka Municipality, she brings both professionalism and purpose to her work.

Outside of Edufundi, she’s a proud mother of one and enjoys staying active at the gym — balancing it all with grace and heart.

We’re deeply grateful for her unwavering commitment, her calm efficiency, and the warmth she brings to every interaction.

New Term, Fresh Energy!

Today marks the first day of the final term of 2025. As teachers and learners step back into classrooms across the country, it’s a reminder that every ending is also a new beginning — a chance to finish strong, grow deeper, and make every lesson count.

Let’s bring focus, courage, and heart to these last few months of the school year.

You’ve got this!

As the day comes to a close, we pause to reflect on the incredible teachers who inspire learning, nurture potential, and shape brighter futures — one classroom at a time.

At Edufundi, we’re privileged to walk alongside these dedicated educators, supporting and celebrating their unwavering commitment every day, not just today.

Here’s to every teacher who shows up, uplifts, and makes a difference — your impact echoes far beyond the school gates.

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! 🇿🇦

Today we celebrate the richness and diversity of our nation’s cultures. In education, Heritage Day is more than a celebration — it’s a chance to inspire learners with lessons of unity, respect, and an appreciation for both our shared and unique histories.

By celebrating heritage in education, we help shape future leaders who embrace diversity and inclusivity.

Today, let’s honour our stories while building tomorrow together.

South Africa’s education system faces many challenges — from literacy gaps to under-supported teachers and school leaders.

At Edufundi, we believe real change begins inside the classroom. That’s why our mentors use international best practice — adapted for South African schools — to strengthen both teaching and leadership.

Through our support, teachers are seeing the difference:
“It is now possible to measure how well every learner understands the concept.”
– Mrs Matshaya-Mhlabeni, Enkwenkwezini Primary

“These techniques have helped exams to be organised and interactive.”
– Mrs Bulelwa Rashu, Sivuyiseni Primary
