“One of the milestones I am most proud of is recently starting as a Junior Application Specialist at Spinnaker Software.

Having the opportunity to apply the theory I’ve learnt throughout my university career in a professional environment has been incredibly exciting and fulfilling.

SASLI has played an important role in helping me become more work-ready and confident. The annual EXTRA experience has always been a highlight for me, because it helped me develop skills that I now put into practice in the workplace.

This year’s XTRA Unplugged retreat was especially impactful. Taking part in the UN Simulation gave us, as Laureates, the opportunity to develop our diplomacy skills while working together to think through a better future.

I am currently balancing work and studies, and SASLI has helped me approach this with greater agility and focus. These are skills I continue to build through the programme, and now apply as I solve complex problems, manage responsibilities, and work towards making meaningful progress.”

Mrs J.C. De K**k, Principal of ferndale_primary_school, shares her perspective on the impact of the SBF scholarship and what it can mean for learners with leadership potential and the ability to grow.

The SBF scholarship is about more than access to opportunity. It is about recognising potential early and walking alongside learners as they develop the confidence and leadership skills they need for the future.

Our relationship with feeder schools is deeply important. These schools help identify young people with promise, support families through the application journey, and form part of the foundation that our scholars build from.

Thank you to Mrs De K**k and Ferndale Primary School for being part of this journey with us.

Non-South African learners can apply for the Students for a Better Future scholarship.

Applicants who are not South African citizens may apply if they have a valid study visa or proof that they have applied for a study visa.

Families will also need to submit the required supporting documents as part of the application process.

Applications are open until 12 August 2026.
