𝗠𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝟱 𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗷𝗮𝗮𝗿.
Soveel tyd het 307 mense saam aan die ACVV gegee.
𝗡𝗶𝗲 𝗮𝘀 '𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗸 𝗻𝗶𝗲. 𝗔𝘀 '𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝘄𝗲.

Saterdagoggende by die kleuterskool. Aande by bestuursvergaderings. Skoolvakansies in die kombuis van 'n tehuis vir ouer persone.

183 of them have given ten years.
66 have given twenty.
49 have given thirty.
Seven have given forty years.
One has given fifty.
And one has given sixty.
They started before South Africa even had television, and they're still here.

They raised their own children, and somewhere in between helped raise other people's. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘊𝘝𝘝, 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 1904. Not a building or a logo, but 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱.

Vandag vier ons die 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗴 𝘃𝗶𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗲 met die tema "𝘋𝘪𝘦 𝘌𝘳𝘢 𝘷𝘢𝘯 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘥: 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘷𝘪𝘳 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘓𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘴".

Mense leef vandag langer as ooit tevore. 𝗢𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗶𝘀 ‘𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗴.

The staff at the ACVV's residential facilities and community service centres aim to support older persons in living meaningful lives, with dignity. 💙🩵💙

Van 'n kantoor in 'n dorp tot 'n sentrum langs 'n plaaspad - oor die Noord-, Suid-, Wes-Kaap en die Noordwes.

We are sharing Dr Elna von Schlicht's (also a well-respected ACVV member) profound Heritage Day message with you.

From the desk of the Executive Mayor:

Today is a special day for us as South Africans. Heritage Day reminds us that the strength of our country lies in the richness of its people, cultures, languages and traditions, as well as in the sport, food, music and many other things that bring us together. Our heritage is found not only in the places we call home, but also in the stories we carry, the values we share and the traditions we pass from one generation to the next. Today, we celebrate the diversity that makes our communities unique and recognise that our differences can be a source of strength, connection and pride.

As we honour where we come from, may we always remain mindful of the future we are shaping together. We should embrace and support the diversity of our communities and continue to build a South Africa founded on respect, dignity, inclusion and unity, where every person’s heritage is valued, and every generation has the opportunity to contribute to our shared South African story. May we treasure our diversity, respect one another and protect the legacy we are building together.

𝗚𝗲𝗹𝘂𝗸𝗸𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗴!

As we celebrate Heritage Day in South Africa, let us not forget that our histories intersect - we are not a collection of singular separate stories. 𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩 - 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘸𝘯.

Sedert 1904 werk die ACVV in gemeenskappe oor Suid Afrika. Elke Affiliaal het sy eie storie, sy eie dorp, sy eie taal. Saam vorm hulle een organisasie.

Die werk vra nie eers waar jy vandaan kom nie. Dit vra net wat jy nodig het.

𝙀𝙚𝙣-𝙚𝙣-𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙜 𝙙𝙪𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙙, 𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙙 𝙫𝙮𝙛-𝙚𝙣-𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙜.
Every one of them a name on a file, not a figure.

Today, on the 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦, the UN's theme is "Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day."
𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦.

Vandag, op 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗴, is die VN se tema: "Belê in Vrede: Vir Almal, Oral, Elke Dag."
𝗩𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 '𝗻 𝘃𝗿𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳 𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗼𝗺.

Vrede word nie in konferensiekamers gebou nie. Dit word in huise, klinieke en dorpe waar iemand standvastig bly staan gebou.

The ACVV was founded by women in 1904. One hundred and twenty-two years later we are still doing the same work: 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦.

Ons doen dit nie deur middel van verklarings nie. 𝗢𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲, 𝘀𝗸𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗸 𝗱𝗮𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿.

Die ACVV staan in swart. 'n Paar foto's van sommige van ons kantore en personeel in solidariteit met slagoffers van geslagsgebaseerde geweld, mishandeling en moord. Genoeg is genoeg 🖤

𝗗𝗶𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗔𝗖𝗩𝗩 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆𝗱 '𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻.

Hande wat 'n kind se hand vashou, kos opskep, wonde verbind, vorms invul, tee dra, truie brei en hande uitreik na die gemeenskap - en môre weer vir diens aanmeld.
Die ACVV word sedert 1904 deur hande gelei, in elke Affiliaal regoor die Noord-, Oos-, Wes-Kaap en Noordwes-provinsie. Hier het ons die voorreg om daardie hande te vier.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘊𝘝𝘝 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦.

Hands that hold a child’s hand, dish up food, dress wounds, fill in forms, carry tea, knit jerseys, reaching out to the community - and report for duty again tomorrow.
The ACVV has been led by hands since 1904, in every Affiliate across the Northern, Eastern, Western Cape and North-West province. Here we have the privilege to celebrate those hands.
