Today we attended the march in solidarity with communities calling for the protection of land and justice for its rightful custodians. The demonstration gathered people at the Good Hope Centre, where voices united to send a clear message: the land is not for sale and our history is not an auction.

As Artivism Productions, our presence was intentional and principled. We stand firm against the auctioning of land by the City of Cape Town because such actions do not just transfer property but they endanger culture, erase history, and displace indigenous communities whose identities are rooted in that soil. Land is memory, land is heritage, land is life.

We believe the land must remain in the hands of its rightful owners - the native people and original custodians not the winners of war or systems of conquest. This march was more than a protest; it was a collective declaration that we are united, aware, and committed. We are in this together, and together we will continue to stand, speak, and act for justice, dignity, and preservation.

It may not be today but one day history will remember the names of the young boys and girls who risked everything, who stood at the forefront advocating for equality against systems that continue to oppress them. Yesterday, Artivism Productions 24 hosted a powerful public creative demonstration calling for an end to budget cuts and austerity measures that deeply affect our communities. The gathering brought together young people, artists, and community members united in resistance, using creativity as a tool to demand justice, dignity, and change. The demonstration highlighted the urgent need for participatory, inclusive, and transparent decision-making processes that center the voices of the people. As Frantz Fanon reminded us, “Each generation must, out of relative obscurity, discover its mission, fulfill it, or betray it.” We are deeply grateful for Langaformen's meaningful participation throughout this journey, and we sincerely thank all the institutions and partners who supported us in turning this vision into reality.

Let us take a moment to proudly celebrate two of our Artivism Productions 24 mentees 🌿✨

Anelisiwe has successfully completed matric with a Bachelor Degree pass, achieving results that speak to her dedication, resilience, and intellectual discipline. Her journey has been one of steady growth, not only in the classroom but also in the creative spaces we have shared together. Watching her balance academic excellence with creative expression has been a powerful reminder of what is possible when talent is nurtured with care and intention.

Yolanda has gone on to achieve a remarkable milestone by obtaining her Bachelor’s degree. This accomplishment represents years of perseverance, sacrifice, and belief in her own potential. Beyond the academic qualification, Yolanda’s journey has been one of deep personal and creative transformation. She has grown into her voice, sharpened her purpose, and continues to embody the values of discipline, curiosity, and service that we hold dear at Artivism Productions 24.

These achievements are deeply significant for us as an institution. Over the years, we have not only mentored Anelisiwe and Yolanda creatively, but we have also witnessed their academic development, their challenges, their breakthroughs, and their becoming. Their successes affirm our belief in holistic mentorship that creativity and education are not separate paths, but intertwined forces that shape confident, conscious, and capable young leaders.

We celebrate these milestones with immense pride. This is not just a personal victory for Anelisiwe and Yolanda, but a collective one for our community. May their journeys continue to inspire others who are walking similar paths, and may this moment remind us all that growth, when nurtured with love and consistency, bears powerful fruit. 🌱✊🏾

Artivism Productions 24 is officially open, and we kicked off with an intense and productive first day. The day began with our participation in the Langa Consultative Meeting and Austerity Campaign convened by the Langa Socialist Movements. The meeting was attended by AIDC, the Langa Community Advice Office, and Sibambene Women’s Organisation, among others, and focused on collective community engagement and mobilisation.

Alongside this, we engaged in strategic preparations for the upcoming Langa Artivism March scheduled to take place on 21 February 2026. We later concluded the day with a strong and forward-looking meeting with the Naledi Foundation, in preparation for the CACNET Touring venture hosted by STAND. We are proud to share that our production, Say Their Name, has been selected to host the tour, which will run from 25–28 February 2026.

Behind-The-Scene. ❤️😩💋

Isililo is a deeply personal and cinematic documentary set in the informal settlements of Ward 52, Langa. Anchored in the lived experience of a young kasi kid, the film explores gender-based violence (GBV) not as an isolated act but as a constant presence that shapes childhood, identity and the future of an entire community. Even when violence is not directly experienced, its echoes are felt through what is witnessed at home, heard in the streets and absorbed in silence. The documentary moves through the everyday spaces of Langa narrow alleys, overcrowded homes, communal kitchens and street corners revealing how exposure to GBV influences emotions, behavior and life choices among young people. Anger, withdrawal, substance use and repetition of harmful cycles emerge alongside moments of resilience, care and collective survival. Personal reflection is layered with community insight and professional perspective, offering a holistic understanding of how trauma travels across generations. Isililo is both a cry and a witness. It is a film about growing up in broken systems, about what young people carry even when no one names it and about the quiet strength found in communities that continue to live, love and resist despite deep wounds. Through an intimate, human-centered lens, the documentary challenges audiences to confront the unseen consequences of GBV and to listen to the voices shaped by its presence.

We have a new filmmaker in the team. At only 15 years old, he is already documenting documentary stories from his own community (Langa). He came through our Filmmakers Corner course, and now he is stepping into his next chapter making his very first film.

Today, being onset and directed by him was a humbling and powerful experience. To take instruction from someone so young yet so clear in vision and confident in storytelling, reminded us why we do this work - to grow leaders not followers.

This is what it looks like when young people are trusted, taught and given space to create. The future of storytelling is already here.
