Rebuilding our capacity to develop future cities: People power the industry - but do we have the skills to match our ambitions? How are education, industry and gov working to rebuild the talent pipeline?

Petra Devereux from the Master Builders Association Western Cape leads this session with:

Professor Kathy Michell from UCT with an academic perspective: Vocational education and training and the challenges as well as the use of ethical AI, Gen Z’s and Gen Alpha - the ‘DIY generation’.

The industry’s perspective: John Matthews, CEO of Garden Cities: The misalignment or misinterpretation of the City’s vision and the challenges that property developers currently face in dealing with local and national government.

Beyond development: Investing in people to build the future of property - Boxwood Property Fund’s Nkanyiso Mbatha: The ambition vs. reality gap and the middle between education and industry readiness in the built environment.
