A Celebration of Hope: Community Care Clinic Opens in Vrygrond
Today marked a joyful and momentous occasion in Vrygrond as Where Rainbows Meet proudly celebrated the official opening of its Community Care Clinic, an important step forward in bringing accessible healthcare to the heart of the community.
Made possible through the generous support of the Giving Light Foundation, and under the leadership of Mymoena Scholtz (Director) and Kyle Luke Cupido (Project Manager), this milestone was not only the launch of a facility, but the celebration of a shared vision to uplift and care for the people of Vrygrond.
The Community Care Clinic was founded by Ellen Van Meerten and Michelle Van Tongerloo, supported by Hillhouse Clinics whose passion and commitment to community healthcare have helped turn this vision into a reality.
The event was filled with excitement and pride as community members, partners, and stakeholders gathered to witness this special moment. The launch was attended by Councillor Mandy Marr and officially opened by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Mireille Wenger.
This new clinic will significantly reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to hospitals for basic healthcare services. It is fully equipped with a doctor, nurse, medication dispensing services, and a qualified sister who will also provide training in Basic Health Worker Education and Mother and Baby Care to 20 community members, further strengthening healthcare capacity within the community.
While today we celebrate this incredible achievement, the vision continues. The clinic will focus on providing care for chronic patients, primary healthcare, family planning, and immunisation, with plans to expand its services in the future.
This opening is more than just a milestone, it is a celebration of hope, dignity, and a healthier future for Vrygrond.
