Vulnerability does not discriminate. It does not favour one person over another. It does not choose based on age, gender, background, education, status, or circumstance.
At different points in our lives, every one of us will experience vulnerability. It may look like loneliness, financial pressure, grief, uncertainty, a desire to belong, a search for opportunity, or a hope for a better future.
❗These are not weaknesses; they are part of what makes us human.
❗The truth is, vulnerability is not the problem.
The problem is when vulnerability is met with exploitation. The problem is when people are unaware of the tactics used by traffickers and exploiters. The problem is that when we don't know the red flags, don't recognise manipulation, and haven't been equipped with the information needed to protect ourselves and those around us. 👏🧲
Human trafficking often begins where vulnerability and opportunity intersect.
Traffickers look for moments when people are searching for connection, support, work, love, or a way forward. They don't create vulnerability; they exploit it.
⚡That is why awareness is so important. When people understand the warning signs, recognise grooming tactics, and know where to find help, vulnerability becomes far less attractive to those who seek to exploit it.
No one is immune to vulnerability. But everyone deserves access to the knowledge and tools that can help keep them safe.
Vulnerability is human.
Exploitation is preventable. 🔥
