PEER EDUCATORS’ DISCUSSION RECAP💬

We’re still looking back at our Peer Educators’ journey, and since it’s Throwback Thursday, let’s take it back!

Following the recent stories of women losing their lives to GBV, our Peer Educators took the conversation to different residences. They made stops at Southern Life, Theresa Court and Park Central, where they spoke to students about GBV and consent. The students who were in attendance engaged openly, shared their thoughts and took part in these meaningful conversations.

Their last stop was the SASCO Imbizo at the Stadium, where they were invited to continue the conversation around GBV and r**e, raise awareness and encourage students to speak up. They also shared GBV helplines and reminded students where they can access support both in res and on campus.

GBV is a complex issue, but every conversation matters. Let’s keep talking, supporting one another and reaching out for help when needed. 💜

Peer EDS’ Discussion Recap💬

The Peer Educators’ Awards are almost here!🙂‍↕️But before we celebrate our Peer Educators and the work they’ve done, we’re taking a moment to look back at some of the conversations that made an impact.

This second semester, Our Bellville Peer Educators hosted meaningful discussions at Libertas and DGH, tackling important topics that affect students and their everyday lives.

At Libertas, the conversation focused on GBV and consent, giving students a space to unpack respect, boundaries and healthy relationships.

At DGH, the conversation was focused on Positive Masculinity and consent, whereby they explored healthier perspectives on masculinity, respect and relationships.

These conversations may happen in a room, but their impact can extend far beyond it💙

Happy Wednesday! | Peer Eds’ Discussion Recap💬

Today, we are reflecting on the impactful discussion led by our Mowbray & Newlands Peer Educators at Hartfield Residence✨The session created a safe and engaging space for students to have open conversations about important topics including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), safe s*x, mental health and counselling.

Students had the opportunity to share their thoughts, ask questions, learn from one another and engage in meaningful conversations around their wellbeing. No awkwardness, just important conversations that needed to happen because sometimes, one conversation can make all the difference💙

Peer EDS’ Discussion Recap is back!🙂‍↕️💙

Bellville Peer Educators recently hosted their first RES discussion at Belpark and Ileli, where they unpacked R**e and Consent.

It was a heavy but necessary conversation on respect, boundaries, and what real consent means. Students engaged openly, asked questions, and reflected together.

We’re excited for more impactful discussions from our Peer Educators this semester!👊

Our Peer Educators recently took part in a special educational tour to Parliament in Cape Town.

Hosted by The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa under the theme “Milestones to freedom”, the tour provided an opportunity for our Peer Educators to explore South Africa’s journey to freedom, learn about key democratic milestones and reflect on the legacy of Nelson Mandela and his lifelong service to humanity.

It was a meaningful day of learning, reflection and connecting with South Africa’s history🇿🇦
