Congratulations to Nizibone Xabadiya on qualifying to represent 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 at the 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 in Namibia, taking place from 𝟲–𝟭𝟰 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Unfortunately, financial challenges may prevent her from attending. An estimated 𝗥𝟱𝟮,𝟳𝟯𝟬 is required to cover flights, accommodation and participation fees, including an accompanying person.

The confirmation deadline is 𝟮𝟱 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

A huge congratulations to our very own 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗮, who is currently in Malawi pursuing his studies while continuing to work hard on his chess.

Even while away from home, Bright continues to show that his passion for chess goes beyond the classroom. During his school holidays, instead of stepping away from the game, he uses the opportunity to compete in tournaments, gain valuable experience and continue developing as a player. ♟️🔥

Bright recently made the news with an impressive 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 at the highly competitive 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗮 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 in Malawi. 🥉🇲🇼

This is a fantastic achievement, especially in a tough and strongly contested tournament. His result is a reflection of the dedication, discipline and love for the game that Bright continues to demonstrate.

The girls produced a fantastic performance in the 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟵 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, taking on strong schools from across the Western Cape and showing tremendous determination throughout the tournament.

♟️ 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗞𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗢𝗳𝗳

The 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 got underway in exciting fashion this past weekend. 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝟭 & 𝟮 were played on 𝟭 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 in Durbanville. Only the 𝗔 𝘁𝗼 𝗗 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 were in action, with the 𝗘 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 set to join later in the season.

The league will be contested over 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 from 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, bringing together some of the strongest club teams in the Western Cape.

Our 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗔 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 faced a baptism of fire, taking on two of the highest-rated teams in the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 and 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗶. We suffered a 𝟳.𝟱–𝟬.𝟱 defeat against Blackjacks before putting up a stronger fight in Round 2, eventually going down 𝟱.𝟱–𝟮.𝟱 to Manyanani.

Although the results were disappointing, they do not tell the full story. The club has lost several key players to university commitments, and we were also without two of our strongest players, 𝗜𝗺𝗸𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗮 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗮 and 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗵𝗹𝗲 𝗭𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗶𝗹𝗲, who were unavailable for the opening weekend. Despite these setbacks, the team gained valuable experience against two of the league's strongest sides.

There was better news from our 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗕 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 in the 𝗖 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, who opened their campaign with a victory before narrowly losing their second match. It was an encouraging start and showed that the team has the potential to compete strongly throughout the season.

🌟♟️ 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦, 𝗡𝗜𝗭𝗜! 🇿🇦

A huge congratulations to one of our rising chess stars, 𝗡𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗫𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗵𝘆𝗮, on her outstanding performance at the SA Open 2026!

Competing in the Under-13 Girls Section, Nizi scored an impressive 5 points out of 6, finishing in the Top 5 of a highly competitive field. 🏆👏

This is a significant milestone for Nizi, as her result has placed her in line to represent South Africa at the African Schools Chess Championship, scheduled to take place in Namibia in December 2026, pending official confirmation. 🇿🇦➡️🇳🇦

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Nizi did not play competitive chess throughout 2025. After taking a break from the game, she has been working hard to regain her strength, confidence, and form and this performance is a testament to her determination and resilience.

We are incredibly proud of you, Nizi. This is only the beginning, and we look forward to seeing you reach even greater heights. Keep working hard and believing in yourself! 💙♟️
