If we are not recognised, care is denied.

Gender DynamiX and members of the trans and gender diverse community stand together today — not only for visibility, but for real change.

We are here to say clearly:
Access to gender affirming healthcare is a human right.
Legal gender recognition is not a favour.
Dignity is not negotiable.

Pride must change systems.
Pride must build institutions that see us, record us, and care for us properly.
Pride must create a reality where no one has to fight to survive.

We are tired of waiting. We need change now.

Pride began as resistance.
Tomorrow, we show up for visibility, dignity, and justice.
We march not just to be seen — but to be heard.
Gender DynamiX stands where courage lives.

Tonight, the President outlines the path for the year ahead. We are clear on the path we need to take.

We need Legal Gender Recognition that honors our autonomy. We need inclusive education that protects our children. We need gender affirming healthcare that affirms our lives. And we need a seat at the table.

Mr. President, the state of our nation depends on the state of our dignity.

Speak to us. Speak for us.

We applaud a government that can stand before the world and speak truth to power regarding international law and the ICJ. That is the South Africa we know.

Now, we ask for that same boldness in facing the crisis of GBVF at home.

Mr. President, do not let the anti-gender movement dilute your commitment to human rights. Trans women are women, and our safety is non-negotiable.

Our history is one of litigation. From the Jade September judgment to the KOS case, the courts have often been the last line of defense for trans dignity when politicians remained silent.

But we are tired of governing by court order. The legislature must step up.

Act 49 is outdated. The Hate Crimes legislation must be enacted with force.

We need laws that recognise self-determination, not medical gatekeeping.

This week, as we look toward the State of the Nation Address, we look back at the foundation of our democracy. 🇿🇦🏳️‍⚧️

For 30 years, the Constitution has been our shield. From the decriminalisation of so**my to the Jade September judgment, we have fought for our place in the sun.

But laws on paper must translate to safety on the streets. Mr. President, protect the legacy of our Constitution.

Higher education should be a space where every individual is empowered to belong, learn, and lead—free from discrimination and violence.

In November 2025, at the National Education Benchmarking Indaba, a collective vision was forged: the Manifesto for the Human Rights and Inclusion of Sexual and Gender Diverse Persons. Anchored in South Africa’s constitutional commitment to dignity and equality, this document is a direct call to action for university leaders, government stakeholders, and allies.

In the face of growing anti-gender movements, we are advocating for intentional, accountable, and transparent practices that move beyond talk and into measurable change.

Our key objectives include:
• Ending SGBV: Explicitly protecting survivors based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
• Closing the Policy-Implementation Gap: Moving from reactive measures to responsive funding, evaluation and monitoring to track progress of inclusion.
• Inclusive Administration: Ensuring systems facilitate safe and inclusive campuses
• Transformative Research: Integrating q***r scholarship into our curricula.

On this International Day of Education, we are calling on the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and all university administrations to resource and institutionalise this vital work. Together, we can build institutions that embody the best of our shared humanity.

Dear Gender DynamiX Community ❤️🌈

As the year draws to a close, we want to express our deep appreciation for your support, your courage, and your continued commitment to the fight for legal gender recognition, gender affirming health care and inclusive education. Your presence strengthens our collective voice and brings life to this movement.

Gender DynamiX will be closed from 19 December 2025 to 12 January 2026 for the year-end break. This period allows our team to rest, recharge and prepare for the important advocacy work ahead in the new year. Our focus remains on advancing rights, influencing policy, building knowledge and supporting a more just and inclusive environment for trans and gender diverse persons.

If you experience discrimination, violence or access-related challenges during the holiday period, we encourage you to contact emergency services or local support organisations. Rights-related concerns may also be reported to programmes such as REAct, which will resume documentation and follow-up from 12 January.

As we enter the new year, we remain committed to amplifying the voices of our community, expanding our impact and advancing the pursuit of dignity, safety and recognition for all trans and gender diverse persons. Thank you for walking this path with us and for standing firm in the struggle for justice.

We wish you a safe, peaceful and restorative holiday season, and we look forward to reconnecting in January.
