A joyful day yesterday as two of our students, Tumukunde Mwesiga and Kosea Abaho from Uganda were ordained for gospel ministry.

We thank God for His faithfulness in bringing them to this significant milestone.

Please join us in praying that God would guide their steps and open the right doors for service in His kingdom.

Congratulations on your ordination!

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)

We were honoured to welcome a team from The Bridge Church in Sydney, Australia, to George Whitefield College for a short visit.

As faithful partners and supporters of Explore, they spent time connecting with our team in Cape Town and joined one of our Explore groups for a study session.

We are thankful for the opportunity to share in what the Lord is doing through this ministry and to be mutually encouraged by His work. We pray for continued fruit as we labour together for the growth of His Kingdom.

Siphesihle Biyela, a GWC Student, will be running his very first marathon at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 2026 on Sunday, 24 May.

More than just a race, this student-led initiative seeks to support the GWC Student Emergency Fund: a fund created by students, for students, to assist during times of medical emergency, bereavement, and unexpected hardship.

Every kilometre Biyela runs is a reminder that no student faces these difficult moments alone.

Join him by supporting, sharing, and standing with students in need. Donate today: https://www.gwc.ac.za/donate/gwc-student-welfare-fund/

We are delighted to welcome Kenyan theologian Dr Liz Mburu, who has joined GWC faculty as a Resident Researcher. Liz is an Associate Professor of New Testament and Greek, and has lectured at Christian universities both in Kenya and the US. She was the first woman to gain a PhD from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, North Carolina, and has a vision to empower the Church in its African expression.

In addition to strengthening the biblical studies department here at College, Dr Mburu’s focus will be on mentoring senior students and faculty in their research and writing.

A published Langham Literature author, Liz invites us to attend a virtual launch of "1,2,3 John: Bible Commentaries from Muslim Contexts", the newest book in the Windows on the Text Series, which is co-authored by herself and faculty member Dr Caroline Seed, among others. This unique study addresses interpretation challenges that arise for people from Islamic contexts on the East African coast.

Taking place on 26 May (4pm Cape Town time), the launch will include a panel discussion with the authors as well as guest speakers.
