At GWC, I have had a glimpse of getting to know brothers and sisters from countries such as Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, and South Sudan, as well as people from different parts of South Africa itself.

Being surrounded by such diversity has expanded my understanding of the world. These interactions stretch our
perspective and remind us that the world is much bigger than the corners we come from. You begin to realise that your own culture, experiences, and way of seeing things are not the only ways of understanding life.

Meet GWC’s Students’ Representative Council for 2026/2027! 🎓

A welcoming community doesn’t happen by accident. It grows through people who take the time to connect, include and care for one another.

At George Whitefield College, our Students’ Representative Council (SRC) plays an important role in helping students settle in, build friendships and feel at home. Through social events, student initiatives and practical support, the SRC helps make campus life vibrant, welcoming and connected.

“There is a unique kind of chaos that comes with being both a full-time student and a full-time mum to four school-aged children.”

By all human logic, the math shouldn’t work.

The workload at GWC is intense, and the demands of a large family are relentless. Yet, day after day, the Lord God continues to make a way.

And He hasn’t just given me the strength to survive. He has given me a community to thrive in.

I’ve shared more about what it’s like to balance family, theological study and my calling, and how the GWC community has become such an important part of that journey.

Staff, students and faculty shared food, treats and traditions from across Africa and beyond, with our international students also treating us to flavours and specialities from their home countries. 🍲🌍

The celebration continued with vibrant music, dance and entertainment, showcasing the beauty and joy of different cultures coming together.

At GWC, we give thanks to God for the diversity of His people and the many cultures and nations represented in our community. What a joy to celebrate the richness of our shared life in Christ while appreciating the unique heritage each person brings. ❤️

Happy Heritage Day from George Whitefield College!

Today, South Africa celebrates Heritage Day, a day to recognise and celebrate the many cultures, traditions, languages and communities that make up our nation.

At GWC, we are grateful for the diversity represented within our college community and for the opportunity to learn from one another as we prepare men and women to serve Christ and His Church across Africa and beyond.

Our different backgrounds and cultures are part of the richness of God’s creation, while in Christ we are united as one body.

May we celebrate our heritage with gratitude, humility and a spirit of unity.

Recently, the Bible Society of South Africa (BSSA) gifted Greek and Hebrew Bibles to our first- and second-year Bachelor of Theology students respectively.

These resources play an important role in students’ theological education as they learn to engage more deeply with Scripture in its original languages, and we are extremely grateful to BSSA for their generosity in this ongoing partnership.
