IAIAsa Western Cape Student Branch We are the student branch of the Western Cape affiliate of IAIAsa.

Our aim is to bridge the gap between working professions in the environmental sector and students. The Western Cape Student Branch of the International Association for Impact Assessment South African affilliate (IAIAsa) is an organisation which aims to bridge the gap between professionals in the environmental industry and students through holding a number of events, workshops and discussions related to environmental management.

🎓 Meet our first speaker, Dr Katelyn Johnson! For the Youth in Science Webinar

Dr Katelyn Johnson is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at Stellenbosch University and a researcher in the fields of hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, climate change, and public health. She has successfully led multiple funded research projects, collaborating with academic, government, and industry partners to address water-related challenges in South Africa.

With experience spanning both industry and academia, her work focuses on developing practical solutions to improve water resources management, environmental sustainability, and community resilience. Dr Johnson is also committed to advancing higher education through innovative teaching practices and student-centred approaches that foster critical thinking, well-being, and lifelong learning.

Join us as she shares insights from her academic and professional journey, and explores opportunities for young scientists navigating their future beyond the degree. 🚀🌱
