This hybrid programme combines online learning with practical, hands-on training at three of CapeNature’s remarkable reserves:

Turning field data into environmental intelligence

Contour Enviro Group and Grasshopper Green Technologies have jointly developed an interactive analytics dashboard to measure the impact of invasive alien plant clearing in one of the Cape Town catchment areas. This is based on the work that the Group undertakes where more than 300 jobs are created since 2022.

Across the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 reporting periods, the dashboard analysed:
- 84 clearing projects
- 2,387 hectares treated
- 259.45 condensed hectares cleared
- More than 8,000 person-days of employment created
- An estimated 312.95 million litres in annual water gains attributed to clearing

The dashboard connects ecological impact, species-level clearing data, employment creation, project expenditure and water-security benefits in one decision-support platform.

This is the future of conservation management: transforming operational field data into clear, measurable intelligence that helps organisations understand impact, improve planning and direct resources where they matter most.

Developed jointly by Contour Enviro Group and Grasshopper Green Technologies, with the analytics and dashboard development led by our R&D Department.

Nature Site Guide Training at Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve

Over the past week, our Nature Site Guide learners completed an enriching practical training session at the beautiful Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve.
The session allowed learners to strengthen their understanding of local ecosystems, flora and fauna, visitor safety, and the practical skills required to plan and conduct meaningful guided experiences. Learning in a real protected-area environment brings the programme to life and helps prepare participants for careers in conservation and nature-based tourism.

Our next practical session will take place at the spectacular De Hoop Nature Reserve, where the learning journey continues.

This programme is proudly delivered by Contour Training Academy in partnership with the Wilderness Foundation Africa.
