60 Years of Impact: How South Africa’s Youth Are Writing the Next Chapter of Our Story
Different Stories. One Nation. Stronger Together.

As we celebrate 60 years of service to South Africa, we are reminded that our story is made up of many individual stories, each unique, each inspiring, and each contributing to a stronger nation.

One of these stories belongs to Onikwa Buyeye, a young intern in our Public Relations Department. Like many young South Africans, he joined the organisation eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful contribution. Through his internship, he is gaining valuable experience, developing new skills, and becoming part of a team dedicated to serving communities across the country.

While the AMS ensures access to healthcare and humanitarian support, our impact extends beyond the communities we serve. We are also helping to develop the next generation of professionals, leaders, and changemakers.

For Onikwa, this internship is more than a workplace experience; it is the beginning of his professional journey. His story reflects the power of opportunity, mentorship, and investing in young people.

"Every young person across our communities carries a narrative capable of shifting the future. Your voice matters, your path matters, and my story is directly connected to this shared journey of growth and resilience." Onikwa Buyeye

When asked if he has a motto that he lives by, Onikwa said, "Be like water." It’s all about the idea that water effortlessly takes the shape of whatever container it’s poured into. To me, it’s just a daily reminder to stay adaptable, fluid, and ready to handle whatever environment or challenge comes my way.

As we mark our 60th anniversary, we celebrate not only the lives we have touched through our services but also the individuals who are helping to shape our future.
