IMSA OUDTSHOORN—Our outreach has been active since the 1980s. We utilize the services of 17 volunteers and provide support to 91 business visits each month.

Our primary focus is on sharing the gospel and providing counselling services with two trained counsellors on our team. We maintain strong ties with local churches of various denominations, which often invites us to speak at their Sunday services.

One of our latest projects is street ministry, where we visit taxi parking areas and reach out to workers at the municipality, as well as fostering strong relationships with the local police station. Some visitations are accompanied by guitar music, singing, and testimonies. We also use the local radio station to broadcast messages of hope.

Our ministry serves a wide range of businesses, including various departments, general stores, car dealerships, restaurants, hotels, and law firms. We also minister at elder care centres, providing services for their staff and conducting Sunday worship services in their facilities.

Oudtshoorn is well known for its ostrich farming and attracts many tourists. We visit various farms to interact with workers and engage with visitors.

It is a wonderful privilege to share the word of God with our town, to reach people in various workplaces and homes, and to foster strong relationships. By engaging with people and presenting messages of love and hope with a dedicated team, we witness lives being trans-formed and faith in God renewed. We are grateful to the community for opening their doors and inviting us into their spaces.

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

IMSA HELDERBERG—For the past 22 years, Frans Botma, has been faithfully ministering at a police station in our area. What makes Frans's ministry even more remarkable is that he is 92 years old. Despite his age, his commitment to sharing the gospel has never wavered.

Frans regularly visits the holding cells at the police station where he ministers to people awaiting sentencing. His approach is unique, combining wisdom and compassion with a deep belief in the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives.

He recently shared a message with four men who were awaiting sentencing. In his gentle yet powerful way, he brought them hope. Of those four men, three accepted Jesus as their Savior and signed a letter of faith commitment, a testament to their newfound belief.

In the accompanying photo, you can see the letter of faith commitment signed by these men, symbolizing their decision to turn their lives around and follow Jesus. Frans often reflects on his years of ministry and acknowledges that the impact of his work is not always immediately visible. However, he and the IMSA team continue to pray faithfully, trusting that God is at work in the hearts of those they minister to, even if the fruit of their labour is not always seen.

Frans’ story is a reminder of the importance of perseverance in ministry. His dedication to sharing the gospel, even in his later years, demonstrates that there is no age limit to serving Jesus. Frans’ ministry at the police station shows us that God's love and grace can reach anyone, no matter where they find themselves in life.

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

IMSA CITRUSDAL—Patrick Jeftas shares the inspiring story of an Industrial Ministry movement that is unfolding in the Citrusdal's region.

As a former Health Inspector, Patrick's journey into industrial ministry began with his involvement in various workplaces. His passion was ignited at Monis, IMSA Paarl, where he met Hesta Smit, a devoted service worker. Along with Eddie Orsmond and Andrew Bruintjies, they laid the groundwork for impactful ministry.

Patrick reconnected with Carin Brink, the former Cape Regional Manager, through his brother-in-law, Andre Boezak. This connection led him to complete The Think Tank online course with Jaco Leeuwner, the current Network & Relations Manager of IMSA Cape Region. Patrick continued his journey to help establish an IMSA movement at Citrusdal and invited friends to attend the 1-Day IMSA Orientation Session conducted by Floors Meyer.

Citrusdal Industrial Ministry aims to address both the spiritual and practical needs within their community. Volunteers like Maria Morris, Lizl Davids, Fiks Fransman, Brenda Titus, Clement Bird, and others have completed the required training, equipping themselves to serve more effectively.

Patrick and his co-workers’ story are a testament to their dedication to becoming involved and supporting their community at work.

They pray that their dedication will inspire others to volunteer and encourage businesses to contact them to help make a meaningful impact in the region - Clement Bird, 071 254 7147.

Ephesians 4:16 “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

IMSA NAMAKWA—The world of work in which we humans grow up, is often so much focused on individual survival, that we tend to neglect those around us. We are not isolated; rather, we are participants in a much larger context known as God’s complete creation.

We roam the world with our ability to think, reason, and create, from the largest most modern cities to taming the wilderness. We farm the land in its most rural settings and send devices into space to advance our communication, striving to look beyond what is visible to the naked eye.

One rural place that has struck me over the years in my travels, is Namakwaland, located along the upper West Coast corridor of South Africa. It is a place where I continually return to find absolute silence and solitude. It was here that I met Piet and his owners. Piet works hard alongside his owners farming the land. Like most dogs, he enjoys human company and is full of energy. However, he is not the kind of dog that just wags his tail; he has a somewhat formidable protection role.

Piet kills snakes—huge snakes in Namakwaland that would make anyone run fast! His owners have tried to persuade him to stop this dangerous job, but Piet’s actions have become a testament to his bravery, as he has saved his owners multiple times. This has led to Piet being bitten by several species of snakes and miraculously surviving even the most poisonous ones. The Vet claims that his body has somehow developed a resistance to snake venom.

Piet is not a dog with a perfect pedigree, and you probably wouldn’t pay a lot of money for him, but he is a creation of God, and that makes him special.

Genesis 1:25 “God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.”

IMSA IMPAK HYBRID—An outreach initiative in Cape Town, improved their own as well as their clients’ productivity capacity by providing affordable e-services during the Covid-19 pandemic. This helped everyone, including IMSA and BIBLIA, to transition into the hybrid world of electronically driven internet apps. It required a significant leap of faith and financial investment from partners.

For limited trading purposes, a company called Impak Hybrid was registered to continue providing current and new extended e-services after the pandemic. High on our client profile list is the development of Learner Management Systems (LMS) to promote e-learning among learners who lack the funds or time to study full-time at a training institute. This initiative has provided opportunities for 528 students since May 2022 to engage in online training. Our software engineer and developers have not only built these LMS platforms for clients over this period but also provided more than 649 hours of backend support services to lecturers and students across South Africa.

These courses include topics such as Trauma Counselling, Spiritual Care & Counselling for the Sick, Ministering for the Sick & Vulnerable Children, Addressing Spirituality in Palliative Care - from HospiVision, and Studying the Bible - from Bible & Life Academy.

The Think Tank of IMSA is another example of an LMS platform that has been built and rolled out since 2022. The value of this project is further enhanced by our software engineer and developers’ philosophy of not just being available behind the scenes but also physically engaging with our clients on a ministry level and encouraging one another. Such a time together was when Graham Albertyn, a lecturer at Bible and Life Academy, met with Sandra—one of our developers and system analysts.

IMSA VREDENBURG—For the past six years, I have been ministering at a fencing business. It is always a joy to see these men come together once a month to eagerly hear the word of God. While I haven’t had the opportunities to get to know them personally, aside from occasional chats when needed, I cherish these moments of sharing God's love.

Our church is deeply rooted in the community, engaging in various activities such as children's programs and neighborhood gatherings. Recently, our dedicated women's group visited a local home to share the gospel. They encountered a woman who was to escape her life of alcoholism. As they shared the message of the gospel, she surrendered her life to Jesus and has faithfully attended our fellowship since.

On more than one occasion, her longtime boyfriend accompanied her to church but never entered the building. During one of these “drop-offs,” I had the chance to speak with him before he left. When I introduced myself, he shyly replied, “I know you, pastor; you regularly come to my work to preach to us.” I was thrilled to meet this man who has been listening to me share the love of Jesus at his workplace. Without either of us realizing it, God was at work, bringing us together not just at his job, but now in his home as well.

I praise the Lord for this lady who faithfully serves Him. At work, her boyfriend now feels more comfortable approaching me to talk. Although he hasn’t yet professed Jesus as the Lord of his life, I believe God is working in his heart. The gospel has travelled from his workplace right into his home and to us as a church congregation.

John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
