💔 South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. Too many young people grow up without access to education or job opportunities, leaving many vulnerable to homelessness, addiction, gangs, and crime.

But here’s the hope: the sooner we intervene, the greater the chance of lasting transformation. Investing in people doesn’t just change lives—it costs less than leaving people trapped in homelessness.

🌍 For over 25 years, U-turn has been creating a proven pathway out of homelessness.

Rooted in Christian faith and designed by occupational therapists, social workers, counsellors, trainers, and life coaches, our programme equips people with the support and skills they need to rebuild their lives.

Our Champions journey through:

🔑 Rehabilitation – Breaking free from addiction with professional support.
📚 Skills Training – Learning practical, work-ready skills.
💼 Work Experience – Building confidence through meaningful employment in our social enterprises, including our network of thrift shops.
❤️ Community – Being surrounded by a caring, faith-filled support network every step of the way.

💪 Real change takes time—and it works.

On average, our Phase 3 Work-Readiness Programme takes around two years, preparing Champions for sustainable employment and independent living.

Just six months after graduating, our impact speaks for itself:

✨ 80%+ remain sober
✨ 80%+ remain employed
✨ 70%+ remain housed
