The committee chair says there is a crisis and we cannot close our eyes.
Here is the truth. Every abuse he names is already a crime.
Grooming, sexual abuse, money laundering and illicit flows are already unlawful. They are already investigated by the police, the SIU, the FIC and SARS.

The gap is effective enforcement, not a missing law.
New regulation over faith will not catch a single criminal that current law cannot.

The CRL says no court has ruled against it.

Here is the truth. That is because two challenges are still before the court.
The lawful existence of the committee is exactly what the High Court is being asked to decide. SACD and the MLA have both filed applications.

The responsible course is to build nothing until the court has ruled.

No ruling against does not mean cleared. It means the matter is still open.

The CRL claims it is carrying out Parliament's mandate.

Here is the truth. Parliament never adopted the 2018 report.

The Speaker confirmed in writing on 1 July 2025 that the report lapsed and was never revived. There is no live mandate to act on.

The ANC's Deputy Secretary-General has also warned against new laws where existing law already applies.

No adopted report means no mandate. The foundation is simply not there.

At a consultation, the committee chair said you may reject the plan. Then added, but not really.

Here is the truth. A process that will not accept no is not a consultation.
The outcome is already set. A legislative framework, compulsory registration and a governing council.

When the answer is fixed before the questions are asked, consultation is just theatre.

The CRL Chair says the committee speaks for over 40 million Christians.

Here is the truth. The maths does not add up.

That figure assumes every practising adult Christian is represented by the CRL's appointed committee. They are not. Most evangelical Christian structures have opposed this process.

You cannot claim 40 million people while much of the sector stands against you.
A number is not a mandate.

The CRL Chair says every faith must regulate itself.

Here is the truth. Christianity was singled out first.

The Christian Section 22 Committee, its draft framework and its consultations were already running before the same processes were announced for other faiths.
Adding later committees does not erase that. Nor does it answer the charge of unfair discrimination.

Order matters. Starting with one faith does not become fair by adding others afterwards.
