Today, our organisation had the honour of being invited to Radio Zibonele FM 98.2 to share the work we do in supporting people living with disabilities.

It was a privilege to be part of such an important conversation and to highlight the services we provide, including home-based care, EPWP employment opportunities, sewing ,skills development and food nutrition support.

We believe that people living with disabilities are valued members of our communities. While they may face different challenges, they have the same rights, dreams, talents, and potential as everyone else. We are committed to creating opportunities that promote dignity, inclusion, independence, and equal participation.

Every person deserves to be seen, heard, respected, and empowered. We remain dedicated to building an inclusive society where no one is left behind and where people living with disabilities are recognised for their abilities rather than their limitations.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Radio Zibonele for giving us the platform to raise awareness and advocate for a more inclusive community. Together, we can continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create opportunities for all.

Our Live Performance Group has been invited by the City of Cape Town Arts and Culture Development Department to attend The Cunning Little Vixen hosted by Cape Town Opera at the Joseph Stone Auditorium.

This is such a special opportunity for our young artists to experience world-class opera, live music, and storytelling up close. It's more than just a show — it's inspiration, exposure, and a chance for our performers to see where their passion can take them.

We are so grateful for this opportunity to grow, be inspired, and represent our community on this beautiful stage🎭🎨

What a fun and joyous day we had✨

Our little angels arrived in their coziest pyjamas and the day was filled with laughter, music, and so much love.From singing along to their favorite songs, to dancing, storytelling, arts & crafts, and playful games — every moment was pure joy.

Seeing their bright smiles and sleepy-sweet energy made the day extra special.

Moments like these remind us why we treasure childhood. Thank you to all our parents and staff who helped make our Pyjama Day so magical🌸

Cultivating Skills, Harvesting Hope at Ntabethemba

In partnership with Ukundiza Development Institute, our participants are gaining real, practical skills that are transforming lives.

To date, our participants have planted over 5,000 heads of cabbage and spinach across our sites. The crops are thriving, and more seedlings are now establishing for the next harvest cycle.

We extend our gratitude to the Department of Agriculture for providing the seedlings. Your support is helping us plant more than food — we're planting skills, opportunity, and hope.

Growing our impact, together with Food Forward SA🌱

We are excited to announce our new partnership with FoodForward SA Food Gardens Connect programme.

Through this programme, we now have five trained Iliso participants in food gardening. The Food Gardens Connect programme equips people with the skills and resources to grow their own food. It starts with a 6-week training course covering soil enrichment, composting, transplanting seedlings, companion planting, crop rotation, pest control, and bed preparation.

After training, FoodForward SA provides ongoing mentorship and a guaranteed buy-back of harvest to create reliable income and strengthen food security in underserved communities.

The goal is simple: grow people and grow food, so communities can become more self-sufficient and resilient.

Today was all about the soil 💚🌱

We were truly honored to host Virginia Tech again, marking their second visit to lliso Care Society this year.

Our participants spent the day learning hands-on about applying compost to enrich the soil, and planting beneficial cover crops to protect and renew the land.

The Site C debate competition hosted by Iliso Labantu encouraged learners to develop critical thinking, public speaking skills and self-confidence while tackling important social issues.

Another milestone we are proud of. The Life Skills Programme hosted its very first Debate Competition🎉🎉🎉.

Four primary schools took to the stage with courage, confidence, and critical thinking. The schools were Isikhokele Primary School, Encotsheni Primary School, Isivile Primary School, and Nolungile Primary School.

Topics for the day:
1. The dangers of social media - Learners debated how social media can affect mental health, privacy, and focus, and discussed ways to use it safely and responsibly.

2. Bullying - They spoke about the impact of bullying in schools and communities, and shared ideas on how learners can stand up for each other and create safer spaces.

3. The importance of wearing school uniforms - Learners explored how uniforms build discipline, equality, and school pride, while also discussing the challenges some families face.

It was powerful to watch learners research their points, speak with courage, and listen to opposing views with respect. Many learners who are usually quiet found their voices on stage today.

A big thank you to all the school principals for your continued support. You welcomed us into your schools and encouraged your learners every step of the way.
