Today our facilitators had the opportunity to attend the “Abuse No More Protocol” workshop hosted by the Western Cape Education Department.
The workshop focused on strengthening child protection, safeguarding practices, and creating safer learning environments within schools and communities.
This workshop was very important for our facilitators as they work directly with children and young people through our life skills, psycho-social support, tutoring, and school-based programmes. It equipped them with critical knowledge on identifying, responding to, and reporting cases of child abuse, neglect, bullying, and other safeguarding concerns affecting learners.
The training also strengthened our facilitators’ understanding of professional conduct, child protection protocols, referral pathways, and the importance of early intervention when working with vulnerable children. This knowledge will assist them in creating safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces where learners feel protected, heard, and empowered.
Strengthening partnerships between community organisations and schools helps ensure that learners receive the necessary support both academically and emotionally. Through this collaboration, we continue building safer school communities where children can learn and thrive without fear of abuse or harm.
We appreciate the Department of Education for creating platforms that empower facilitators, educators, and stakeholders with the tools needed to protect and support every child.
