On the chilly morning of Wednesday 27 May 2026, Pinelands SAPS held a Community Safety Awareness drive at Forest & Howard Drive intersection between 06:00 and 09:00.

Supported by our Pinelands safety stakeholders, it seeked to create visibility and awareness around safety when out & about.

Thank you to our PNW Patrollers, Fidelity ADT , Executive Decisions and Pinelands CID for joining and once again affirming that community safety is a group effort.

Volunteer work is one of the most rewarding experiences we can be part of, no matter which sphere it falls under. SARZA is one of those spheres. If you have a passion for helping those in need of emergency care, make contact and see how you can get involved

🚨 SARZA Western Cape Volunteer Intake – June 2026 🚨

Have you ever wanted to be part of a worthy cause and make a real difference in your community?

SARZA Western Cape will be accepting a new intake of volunteers during June, and we would love to meet you!

✅ No rescue qualifications needed – we provide the training
✅ All ages welcome – our members range from teenagers to volunteers in their 70s
✅ There’s a role for everyone on a rescue operation
âś… We are LAND-BASED search & rescue (not Sea Rescue)
âś… Owning a 4x4 is helpful, but definitely not a requirement

Whether you want to assist in the field, support operations, or simply learn more about what we do, come join us for an introductory information session before making any commitment.

Visit: https://www.sarza.co.za/join-us/ and complete the sign-up form.
Invitations for the early June information session will be sent out afterwards.

Come see what we’re about, you may just find your place in search & rescue.

Have Your Say: Proposed Designation of The Crossing & Northway as a Dog Off-Leash

Residents and affected stakeholders are encouraged to participate and share their input so that a balanced solution can be reached that formalises the current usage and supports responsible dog ownership while maintaining a welcoming space for the wider community.

Dog ownership and the use of public open spaces are important aspects of community life and wellbeing in Ward 53, which includes Pinelands. Many residents have expressed interest in
identifying designated areas where dogs can safely exercise off leash, while ensuring that the needs of all park users are respected.

On the cold and wet morning of Saturday the 18th April, members of Pinelands SAPS and PNW came together for some collaborating of a different kind.

The SAPS parade room is where every one of our SAPS members start & end their shifts, a space that sets the tone for whats to come on that day or night. Its also the space where some members of the public are taken to as a safe or private space, if needed.

The Pinelands SAPS parade room was in need of some TLC and, thank you to a generous donation by Old Mutual Pinelands and the PNW and its members, this is exactly what happened this past weekend. A clean up, some new flooring and a new coat of paint!

After a long, cold (and fun filled?) day, kicking back with some comfy socks, a braai and a drink was well deserved by everyone.

Thank you to everyone that donated their money, time and hard work to this as we know every member & visitor that steps into the revamped space will appreciate it.

On the 10th of April, we held our first community focused "Night Patrol", a community walk through our suburb to, not only, raise awareness but to also give residents the opportunity to enjoy our home that much more in the comfort and safety of others.

Thank you to our community members that joined us, young, old, 2 legged, 4 legged and 4 wheeled (yes, little ones in their prams joined in!)

A big thank you to our ever present Pinelands SAPS members, our PNW Patrollers and our security services providers for ensuring everyone was well looked after. A special thank you to Pizzeria Villaggio for the lovely coffee and drinks shared together after.

So, would you like to see this happen on a regular basis? Monthly perhaps? Let us know!

Please be vigilant, and if unsure contact the City, the SAPS or your security provider to help.

Please be vigilant, and if unsure contact the City, the SAPS or your security provider to help.

🚨 Scam Alert – The City’s Energy and Finance Directorates have warned that a large‑power‑user customer was approached via WhatsApp with a threat of disconnection and a request for a huge payment. The “caller” even used the correct account number and asked for money to be sent to an FNB account.

The customer caught the warning and verified with us first. He paid the City’s official account – not the scammer’s.

The City will never contact you about payments on WhatsApp, and no City official will ask for money to a personal bank account. All payments should be made through official channels – a municipal cash office or the electronic payment details on your monthly bill.
