Our Story

THE LIGHT WORKSHOP KIDS YOGA

The Sanskrit word Namaste means “the divine light in me sees and honors the divine light in you”.

THE LIGHT WORKSHOP KIDS YOGA shares the benefits of yoga with underprivileged youth within schools. Many children grow up in harsh circumstances and are exposed to violence, poverty, crime and neglect.

Recognizing that this reality should not define who these children are, Sanae Sawada brings the healing, self transformative aspects of yoga to help empower learners to recognize the light within. Sanae, an accredited Yoga Alliance children’s yoga teacher has been single handedly pioneering this project since inception.

BUTTERFLY KISS

In order to raise funds and awareness for The Light Workshop, Sanae created Butterfly Kiss.

Butterflies are symbols of change, and represent the idea that small changes can lead to big transformation.

Using upcycled paper, she teaches people to fold origami butterflies, a process which in itself is calming, meditative and therapeutic.

Spread your love, and your wings lightly, like a butterfly, and let yoga light up the world!

R100/ $8 sponsors a child through one school term of yoga.

R200/ $16 sponsors a child through half a year of yoga.

R400/ $32 sponsors a child through a year of yoga.
