Sardis had it all. Wealth. History. A reputation as the greatest city in the region, perched on cliffs so steep it seemed untouchable. Yet it fell because a city convinced of its own strength stopped watching.

That's the backdrop Rebekah unpacked this week as we reached letter five in our journey through Revelation's seven churches. And Jesus's diagnosis of the church there cuts just as sharp as the city's history: "You have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead" (Revelation 3:1). No scandal named. No compromise listed. Just the terrifying gap between looking alive and actually being alive in Him.

Rebekah connected it straight to Jesus's warning in Matthew 7, people doing mighty works in His name, and still hearing, "I never knew you." Then she got honest about where she's found herself in that very tension. 🔥

As we reflect back on the Global Prayer & Fast that happened the weekend of 24–26 July, we are grateful for a community that seeks the Lord together. As a church, we set aside three days to fast, laying down what's comfortable to press into what's eternal.

We had 24/7 prayer and worship running from the Friday into the Saturday, pressing in around the clock, with the whole congregation coming and going at different hours of the day and night, all seeking His face as one house.

This is what we contended for:
🔥 Multiplication in every corner of the Shofar family — Acts 9:31
🌍 Our church plants, especially Shofar Luxembourg
🙏🏽 Our pastors, ahead of September's Summit
📣 Hearts ready for Convergence 2026

To everyone who showed up and sought Him with us, thank you. What was sown in that room, He will multiply.

Kids Band will lead us in worship and Mariette will share on "Normal Christianity".

The Seven Churches of Revelation | Thyatira

What starts as "just this once" rarely stays that way.

That was the heartbeat of Richard's message this week as we continued through the seven churches of Revelation, landing in Thyatira, a thriving, hardworking church that Jesus praised for love, faith, service and growing works... but still had one thing against them.

"Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching, she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols." Revelation 2:20

Richard traced the quiet progression from temptation to tolerance to corruption, then got vulnerable about his own journey through exactly that pattern years ago, a story that gave real weight to Jesus' promise: "I will repay each of you according to your deeds... hold fast to what you have until I come."

There's a reason this was the longest letter to the smallest city. Jesus sees what the world overlooks.
