As a fellow Badisa programme, Alta du Toit does incredible work caring for and supporting persons with special needs. It was lovely to come together, lend a helping hand, and make our surroundings a little brighter.

🚒 On 8 October, Badisa Trio Scottsdene collaborated with Kraaifontein Fire Station and Brackenfell Fire Station to present a safety awareness programme to Foundation Phase learners at Watsonia Primary School.

The learners learned about fire safety, preventing accidents, recognising potential dangers and how to respond in an emergency. The programme also highlighted the importance of following safety rules and seeking help from trusted adults when they feel unsafe.

By equipping children with age-appropriate knowledge and practical safety awareness, we help empower them to protect themselves at home and in their communities.

A Place of Safety, A Place to Belong 🧡
On 28 September, Badisa Trio Kraaifontein had the privilege of bringing members of our community together for a Foster and Safety Parent Information Session.

The afternoon was about more than sharing information, it was about having honest conversations, asking questions and reminding one another that sometimes, something as simple as opening your home can make an enormous difference in a child’s life.

A heartfelt thank you to Brackenfell Library for welcoming us and generously providing a space for this important conversation. 📚

We are especially grateful to Jordan van Jaarsveld for so generously sharing his story and personal experience with us. Hearing a real story reminded us of the heart behind foster and safety care, the people, the challenges, the love and, most importantly, the difference that a safe and caring home can make.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the afternoon. We are grateful for the community’s interest, openness and willingness to engage in this important conversation. 🏡🧡

Such a Special Day | Community Project at Goliath Estate ✨
On 30 September 2026, Badisa Trio Kraaifontein hosted a community project at Goliath Estate as part of a holiday programme focused on the children.

The day created an opportunity to connect with the children and the wider community, while helping to build a bridge of trust between the Goliath Estate community and Badisa Trio.

We received so much love from the children throughout the day, and shared plenty of laughs over some of the funny and unexpected things they said. Their enthusiasm and joy made the day truly special. 🧡

💚🩵 A heartfelt thank you to Badisa Trio Kraaifontein, Kuumba, Jordan van Jaarsveld, Ms Sjean Smit, and the Goliath Estate community for your support, participation and contribution towards making the day a success.

And of course, Kuumba brought even more joy to the children and made their day extra special!

Foster Care Life Skills Support Group 🌱
During the school break, Badisa Trio Bellville hosted a Life Skills Support Group for children in foster care.

Throughout the group, the children explored important topics such as emotions, boundaries, relationships, change and loss, foster care, stress and triggers, coping strategies, identity, and recognising their own strengths.

Through activities, discussions and shared experiences, the children were given a safe space to express themselves, learn new skills and discover more about who they are. 🌻

We are especially grateful to each child who chose to spend part of their holiday with us. Their enthusiasm, participation and willingness to engage made the sessions truly special. It was wonderful to hear how much they enjoyed the experience and even more wonderful to hear that they are already looking forward to joining us for another group!

Thank you to our children for showing up, sharing, learning and growing with us. 🧡
