The Homestead Projects for Street Children Our Mission is to ensure that there are no children living, working or begging on the streets of Cape Town.

The Homestead is a 44 year old organisation, established in 1982, that takes care of children who used to live, beg and work on the streets, also has Prevention and Early Intervention Programmes for children at risk of ending up on the streets. This is achieved through prevention, outreach, intake, residential therapy, family reunification and job creation projects. Would you like to support the Homestead?

You can do so through the Woolworths My Difference Programme.

Here are the steps to register a new card or link your existing card to the Woolworths MyDifference programme using the Woolies app:

How to Link or Register on the Woolies App
Download or Update the App: Ensure you have the latest version of the Woolworths App from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Huawei AppGallery.
Log In or Sign Up: Open the app and log in with your existing Woolworths online profile details, or create a new profile if you don't have one.
Navigate to MyDifference: Tap on the MyDifference or Card tab located on the bottom navigation menu or home screen.

Link or Register Your Card:
If you have a card: Select Link an Existing Card and scan your physical card barcode or manually type in your card number.
If you don't have a card: Select Join MyDifference to instantly generate a digital card.

Verify Your Details: Confirm your contact details (cellphone number and email address) and complete the OTP (One-Time PIN) verification if prompted.

Choose The Homestead and support with your everyday shopping.
Once completed, your virtual card is immediately ready to scan at checkout from your phone.

The Homestead: Social Worker – Site C Khayelitsha Drop-in Centre

The Homestead Projects for Street Children successfully transitions neglected and abused children away from the street, back home or onto successful independent living through a holistic set of prevention, outreach, stabilisation, residential care, family reunification and youth transitional programmes. The Homestead works with chronically neglected, abused, and abandoned children as well as with children living, working and begging on the street.

The Homestead seeks to appoint a qualified and SACSSP-registered Social Worker to be based at our Site C Khayelitsha Drop-in Centre.
Closing Date: 16 September 2026
Expected Start Date: 1 October 2026

WE ARE HIRING!

The Homestead Projects for Street Children successfully transitions neglected and traumatised children away from the street, back home, or onto successful independent living through a holistic
set of prevention, outreach, stabilisation, residential care, and family reunification and youth transition programmes.

The Homestead seeks to appoint a qualified Child & Youth Care Worker at our Child & Youth Care Centre (CYCC) in Observatory. The LaunchPad CYCC is a transitional residential care programme
for youth aged 15 to 21 who are preparing to leave care. The aim of the programme is to ensure that youth who leave the Homestead are well-prepared and ready to move out.
