Aid4Paws

Aid4Paws Aid4Paws is an organisation which feeds, sterilizes and manages the feral cat colonies on CPUTcampus

Aid4Paws started off more than ten years ago when several individuals saw a desperate need to manage the growing feral cat populations at the Cape Town and Bellville campuses. With regular food and medical attention as well as sterilizations, healthier and stable colonies developed. The group became known as 'Campus Cats', sterilizing and rehoming literally hundreds of cats and kittens over the ye

ars. It soon became obvious that a more formal organization was needed and Aid4Paws was born. It is our mission not only to give the cats all the care and love they deserve, but to encourage and educate others to do the same. Feral cats are an integral part of city life and it's our duty to ensure their health and safety in this hostile urban environment. The details of our Aid4Paws NPO bank account is as follows:

They weren’t born β€œmean.”
They were born outside.
A feral cat doesn’t hate people.
A feral cat is afraid.

Imagine opening your eyes in a world where:
β€’ Every loud noise could mean danger
β€’ Every human hand might hurt you
β€’ Every meal is uncertain
β€’ Every night can be cold, maybe wet

Feral cats live in survival mode. Every single day.
They don’t understand couches, toys, or cozy beds.
They understand hiding. Listening. Running.

When they hiss, it’s fear.
When they swat, it’s protection.
When they avoid us, it’s because not every human is kind to them.

But here’s the truth:
Feral cats still form families.
They groom each other.
They protect their kittens.
They feel hunger, fear, comfort, relief β€” just like any other cat.

And when their colony caretakers stop the endless cycle through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), something changes:
β€’ The fighting decreases
β€’ The suffering decreases
β€’ The cycle of unwanted litters stops
β€’ And entire colonies live calmer, healthier lives

Next time you see a feral cat, remember:
That tiny body carries a lifetime of survival.
And survival is not the same as wildness.

If you believe feral cats deserve humane care, support your local TNR efforts.
Compassion doesn’t require ownership β€” just understanding.

Together we can help them

Lily & Callie, 2 peas in a pod are looking for their furever home together, as they are a bonded pair. Lily took Callie under her paws when she arrived at the foster mom and have become inseparable.
Lily is +- 1 year old and Callie is now 3 months old.
Lily did not have a great start to life, she was rescued from a CPUT residence after being horribly abused by the students, but has now come into her own with the help of foster mom. She doesn't like to be picked up but loves to be stroked and will sit on your lap and will follow you around like a loyal "puppy". She is used to dogs and other cats.
Callie was dumped in one of the feral cats boxes at my work as a small kitten where I rescued her and took to foster mom, where she met Lily who became her surrogate mother. She is quite loving and can be picked up. Loves to be near you when you are working or just relaxing at home, likes to sleep on your lap and likes to have Lily around. She is also used to dogs and other cats. Both have been tested and are negative, vaccinations up to date, sterilised, dewormed and deflead. They just need their furever home where they feel loved. Please open up your homes and hearts to these 2 adorable babies and you will have endless laughs, love, fun and loyalty. Home checks apply, adoption fee for both is R1200.00.
