23 August 2026 - Sea Point Prominade Adventure
Volunteers and children left their homes on Sunday morning on a bright, sunny day to head to the Sea Point promenade for todayβs hike. Only to arrive at the Moullie Point lighthouse enveloped in a deep fog, with the foghorn blaring every few seconds as we reoriented ourselves to this unexpected landscape.
Khaya Makomfane organised the kids and transport
Mikki organised 3 Nyanga Men Empowerment amazing, enthusiastic leaders
Pick n Pay Constantia Village supplied tons of cheese / peanut butter sandwiches
Our loyal sponsor Yaseen spoilt us with chips, chocolates and snacks
Our team brought fruit
The moment the kids saw Dani Saporetti they sprinted across the grass, arms flung out in delight! It was the turn of our younger members this month, and they entertained themselves on the playground equipment as we got their snacks and supplies ready.
Soon the walk began and we made our way all the way to Milton Beach, with some detours to the giant sunglasses and more playgrounds. And as we walked the sun gradually broke through and melted the fog away. The kids LOVE the beach! They splashed in the rocks pools and swam in the tidal pool until eventually, wet and happy, it was time to meander back to the lighthouse and the trip home.
We had a lovely interaction with a lady walking her dog on the promenade. She asked us who the kids were and we told her about Nyanga Hiking Club. She was quite emotional and told us βthe joy is actually affecting meβ - We wholeheartedly agree!!
Thank you team! See you in September!
