Last night, our Chairperson, Pastor Delicia Howard, Vice Chairperson Denver Dreyer, and Project Coordinator Reverend Glenn Barkhuizen — who also leads Rooipeper Ministries — had the privilege of visiting the family of Octavia Swarts to offer our deepest condolences, support and prayers during this devastating time of bereavement.

Also part of this meaningful interaction were Courtney L. Davids and Vanessa Roman sincerely thank them for standing together with us and making themselves available to support the family.

For us, this is what it means to be a visible and present community forum. It is not only about meetings, programmes and initiatives — it is about showing up when families are hurting, standing alongside them in their darkest moments, and reminding them that they are not alone.

Our hearts continue to go out to the Swarts family. We pray that the peace of God will surround them, strengthen them and carry them through the days ahead.

But alongside our prayers, we continue to call for justice, accountability and a thorough investigation. The life of every child matters. Every family deserves answers, and our communities deserve to feel safe.

We cannot simply mourn and move on. We must stand together, speak up, protect our children and work towards communities where every child can live, grow and thrive in safety.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us in this moment. These are the spaces where our presence matters most.

The Kraaifontein Spiritual Crime Prevention Forum extends our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones, school community, and the entire Joostenbergvlakte community following the tragic passing of Octavia Swart.

We mourn the loss of a precious young life and stand alongside the Kraaifontein community in this time of unimaginable pain. No family should ever have to endure the loss of a child through violence.

As a Forum, we are committed to joining hands with communities, churches, leaders and organisations across Kraaifontein to confront crime and violence against women and children. We will continue to raise our voices, strengthen our communities, support vulnerable families, and stand firmly for justice and accountability.

Octavia’s life mattered. Her family matters. Our children matter.

May God surround her family with comfort, strength and peace during this devastating time.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR KRAAIFONTEIN 🇿🇦🙏

Tonight, the Kraaifontein Spiritual Crime Prevention Forum had the privilege of meeting and welcoming the new head of SAPS Kraaifontein, Col. Mtingane.

The meeting created an important opportunity to introduce the Forum, share our vision and strengthen the partnership between SAPS, faith-based organisations and our community.

Together, we discussed practical ways in which the faith community can support the fight against crime and bring hope into places where it is desperately needed.

Among the key priorities discussed were:

🙏 Prayer ministry in the police cells
🙏 Prayer and encouragement during SAPS shift changes
🙏 The establishment of a secure community prayer box at the precinct
🙏 Prayer walks and interventions in crime hotspots
🙏 Greater involvement in schools and youth programmes

We believe that the fight against crime requires more than one organisation or institution. It requires unity.

When SAPS, faith-based organisations and the community stand together, we can work towards restoring hope, strengthening moral values and building safer communities.

We look forward to building a meaningful and productive partnership with Col. Mtingane and the SAPS Kraaifontein management team.
