Voces Cordis

Voces Cordis VOCES CORDIS (Voices of the Heart) was established in February 2022 by André van der Merwe. Many of the choir members are alumni of his previous choirs.

The choir consists of 80 choristers from across the Cape Peninsula in South Africa, aged between 18 and 50. André established the group as a continuation of his work with the Stellenbosch University Choir and the Stellenberg Girls Choir. Adults who pursue various professional careers now get a podium to continue their passion for ensemble singing. Since February, the choir has appeared on national television, performed with Nataniël at the Grand West, and was invited to perform at the Woordfees Art Festival in Stellenbosch.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of performing at VGK Hugenot.

Singing for a community where music, words and genuine sincerity are so deeply felt was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. We arrived to share our music, but we left having received just as much in return.

The hospitality was something truly special — from the BIG spoil of delicious food to the many individuals who took the time to come up to us afterwards, say thank you and share what the music meant to them.

Many of you told us that we touched your hearts. But it went both ways. You touched ours too.

There really aren’t enough words to express our gratitude. Thank you for welcoming us so warmly, for listening so openly, and for allowing us to share this experience with you. It’s one we’ll carry with us for a long time.

[SOLD OUT] We kicked off our performance season with our 'tradition-concert' at Gene Louw a few weeks ago. On Friday we will have our first full concert for 2026.
