We are inviting you for a community screening of The Story of Plastic in collaboration with Free From Plastic in SA and the global movement.

They’re also primary targets of the BDS movement—the global call to boycott corporations profiting from the occupation of Palestine.

CALL FOR HELP.

Qandu-Qandu is a community in Khayelitsh. Established in 2018, the place has over 4,000 households, which do not have access to electricity, water, or sanitation.

Abandoned by the city of CT, Qandu Qandu is also home to some of the most radical activism, uncompromising community and incredible togetherness.

Unfortunately with yesterday’s storms the already inhumane conditions the people live in became unlivable as the township flooded. Around 4000 affected individuals lost their homes and what little possessions they have. With no help from the city - volunteers are walking door to door, trying to help families get to the safety of the local community hall.

We are desperately looking for blankets, clothes, mats, food, baby supplies (URGENT), any household items and of course funds to provide basic help to the affected.

Please get hold of Sbu +27 61 883 4767 if you can help. Helping each other is what makes this terrible time better.

This week, in honour of Workers’ Day, we’re screening The Wobblies. A film that traces the rise and fall of the Industrial Workers of the World, a radical union that advocated for a “one big union” across race, gender, and skill, and what that history still offers workers organising today.

We’re screening Murder in Paris this week, a gripping documentary that revisits one of the most unsettling unsolved assassinations linked to the anti-apartheid struggle.

At its core, the film interrogates power, silence, and the long shadow of unanswered questions. Through decades of investigation, it unpacks the forces at play behind Dulcie September’s killing, and what it means that justice has yet to be served.

Join us for the screening and an open discussion with the film’s director, Enver Samuel.

Saturday, 18 April | 15:00
All welcome!

We also encourage you to please sign the petition calling for the investigation into Dulcie’s death to be reopened: https://awethu.amandla.mobi/petitions/justice-for-dulcie-1?share=fea09ed0-586f-4182-a317-77641193b10e

This Saturday, we’re screening No U-Turn, a powerful road documentary that follows one man retracing a journey he once made, and the many others still determined to complete it.

Moving across West Africa, the film sits with those risking everything to reach Europe, unpacking what drives them, what they know, and why they continue anyway.

It’s as much about migration as it is about pressure and the shifting realities facing young people today.

Join us for the screening, followed by an open discussion.

Murder in Paris tells the story of Dulcie September — a fearless activist from the Cape Flats, assassinated in Paris in 1988 while investigating apartheid-era arms deals. Her killing exposed networks of power that did not end with apartheid. Today, those same forces persist in a global system where profit is built on conflict — and the poorest continue to pay the price.
