Freedom Day in South Africa reminds us of the importance of equality, dignity, and the right for every person to live with freedom and respect. It celebrates the country’s journey toward democracy and justice for all. In the same spirit, Mama Flo stands against period poverty by helping girls and women access period products and education about menstrual health. 🩸🩸

Period poverty takes away confidence, opportunities, and dignity, especially for young girls who miss school because they cannot afford basic hygiene products. By supporting organizations like Mama Flo, we continue the true meaning of Freedom Da,building a future where everyone can live with pride, freedom, and equal opportunity.

Over a lifetime, one person may use up to 17,000 disposable period products, most ending up in landfill.

At the same time, 500 million people globally still lack access to safe menstrual products, highlighting the link between sustainability, equity, and dignity.

At Mama Flo, we’ve always focused on finding the most sustainable solutions — both financially and environmentally — ensuring that access to period products is not only better for the planet, but also more accessible and affordable for those who need them most.

🇫🇷 Big step forward in the fight against period poverty in France.

France has announced it will reimburse the cost of reusable period products for women under 26 and those on low incomes. Starting from the next academic year, this measure could support around 6.7 million people — nearly 10% of its population.

Those eligible will be able to buy products from pharmacies and claim the cost back through the national social security system.

This change comes after growing pressure from campaigners, highlighting how many still struggle to afford basic menstrual products. In fact, a recent survey found 1 in 10 women in France have had to resort to makeshift alternatives due to financial constraints.

Access to menstrual care isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity and a funeral right. 💬

But you know what we’re also reminded of, our first periods!

In interview with Seventeen magazine, Miley Cyrus shared the time she got her first period... on set filming Hannah Montana while she was wearing white jeans! We’ve all been there.

“… It was so embarrassing,” she said, reliving the incident. “I couldn’t leave. And I was crying, begging my mom, ‘You’re going to have to put the tampon in. I have to be on set.’”
