OVERBERG NEWS

On the 18th of June 2026, the Overberg Region held their third and final World Elderly Abuse Awareness Program in Botrivier, with all of the clubs that belongs to the Theewaterkloof municipality.

The World Elder Abuse Awareness Programme in Botrivier was a meaningful and impactful event that successfully promoted awareness, respect, and appreciation for older persons. Through education, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration, the programme reinforced the importance of protecting older persons and ensuring that they continue to live with dignity, safety, and respect within their communities.

Age-in-Action donated to the the WEAAD program ‘Age-in-Action’ beanies to show unity and cohesiveness.

METROPOLE NEWS

The Metropole had a World Elder Abuse Awareness Day event on 18 June in Eersterivier. They had speakers who educated older persons on various topics that was informative. They also had an exercise instructor, as we know it is very important for older persons to do regular exercise. They marched through the streets carrying posters to raise awareness about elder abuse, and some members of the community also joined the march because they felt the unity of the elderly.

The elderly within the metropole march with a beanie on that said Age-in-Action on. The beanies were donated from Age-in-Action to all of the Metropole elderly to show unity and cohesiveness.

OVERBERG NEWS

On the 17th of June 2026, the Overberg implemented there 2nd World Elderly Abuse Awareness Program within Standford. On the 17th of June all of the clubs from the Overstrand municipality came together to show their unity and march the streets of Standford.

The Elderly March was accompanied by the Traffic department and SAPS Caledon. During the march the elderly marched to three different crèches within Stanford with the intention of giving back to the younger generation. The Overstrand municipality clubs donated knitted beanies and scarfs to the younger generation to show their love, passion and commitment.

On the 15th of June 2026, all of the clubs in the Langeberg Municipalities came together in Robertson and MARCHED THE STREETS to show unity and enable themselves by showing up for themselves and creating awareness.

The World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day event in was a great success. It provided valuable information, promoted awareness of elder abuse, encouraged community engagement, and ensured that older persons felt recognised, appreciated, and supported. The positive participation and interaction throughout the day demonstrated the importance of continuing initiatives that promote the rights, dignity, and well-being of older persons within the Langeberg Municipality.

BOLAND NEWS

On the 15th of June 2026, the BOLAND team implemented a World Elderly Abuse Awareness program to ensure that the elderly of Paarl understand that abuse is not condoned. Within the World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day program , two forensic social workers, one from SAPS Stellenbosch and the other from SAPS Paarl. During their awareness program they provided the community with in-tail of what they do and what they face on a daily basis as forensic social workers.

Age-in-Action donated beautiful beanies to the 2026 World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day to show unity and cohesiveness.

The World Elderly Abuse Awareness project 2026 was impactful and made the necessary impact to the correct community.

WEST COAST NEWS

On the 15th of June 2026 the West Coast Team actively created AWARENESS.

The World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day 2026 community project was door-to-door visit of the social worker and stakeholders bearing gifts and necessities for the clients of Age-in-Action and other seniors struggling with social issues in Lamberts Bay. Each visit encouraged and made the recipients aware that there is help and care for them, and that elder abuse is not allowed. The project’s goal was one of awareness of help, hope and fostering resilience, as well as no tolerance to elder abuse.

AGE-IN-ACTION NEWS 💜

The 15th of June,is globally recognized as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), a UN-designated observance aimed at condemning the physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse, as well as the neglect of older persons. It serves as an international call to action to protect the human rights and dignity of the elderly.

The staff of Age-in-Action actively created awareness within all of the regions by ensuring all of the Elderly individuals feel seen and heard.

On the 7th of May 2026, the Overberg Region had their quarterly Regional Meeting in Napier. All of the upcoming events such as the Arts and Culture, annual Dans and World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day was discussed. The goal of the Meeting was to get input of all affiliated club representatives and make important decisions going forward.
