CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: Inclusive Dance Programme and Inclusive Communications Programme

Applications are now open for two complementary training programmes designed to strengthen South Africa’s inclusive arts ecosystem.

Running from August to November 2026 and supported through National Arts Council (NAC) bursaries, the programmes respond to a clear gap in the sector: while artists with disabilities continue to face limited access to professional development opportunities, many arts managers, organisers and media practitioners remain under-equipped to communicate inclusive work in ways that are informed, ethical, and empowering.

By investing in both artistic development and communication practice, Sibikwa is working towards a more sustainable and visible inclusive arts sector where artists with disabilities are recognised as professionals, and where their work is represented with the nuance and integrity it deserves.

To apply, send your CV, ID copy, and motivational letter to [email protected]. Applicants may also submit an optional video motivation.

Applicants are advised to specify their training programme of choice in the heading of their email.

If inclusive arts practice is part of your vision for the future, then these programmes are for you! Together, we can continue building a more inclusive arts ecosystem — one that values diverse bodies, lived experiences, creative voices and movement languages.

Deadline for applications: 31 May 2026

From facilitating a workshop on sensory theatre-making to an early years theatre production. And finally, two performances for audiences with complex needs. Well done Playhouse Theatre for your commitment to reaching all audiences through your community outreach programmes-from the old (ish) (Heydays theatre group), to the very young, to audiences with complex needs (production and relaxed performances).
