We are incredibly pleased to welcome Alessandra Tolaccia to Cape Town.

Alessandra, Vice President of OIFE, is with us in her personal capacity because she believes in the vision we are building for the Osteogenesis Imperfecta community in Africa. During her visit, we are spending time sharing experiences, strengthening relationships, and exploring how collaboration between African initiatives and our European counterparts can grow in meaningful and practical ways.

This visit is an important reminder that progress happens when people come together with openness and trust. The conversations we are having now are helping to lay the groundwork for stronger cross-border cooperation and a more connected future for individuals and families living with OI.

I am deeply grateful for her willingness to engage, to listen, and to walk this journey with us as we continue building.

Dear friends,

Every time a child with brittle bones needs support, a parent searches for answers, or a family feels alone, we are reminded why Brittle Bones South Africa exists.

But passion is not enough. To truly change lives, we need structure, teamwork, and committed people walking this road with us.

I am inviting volunteers who want to use their skills to help us build something that will serve not only our families today, but the generations that will come after us. Admin, fundraising, media, organising, professional expertise – every contribution matters.

These positions are voluntary and unpaid, yet the impact will echo far beyond what money can measure.

We are also preparing for wider partnerships that will open new doors for our community, and the foundation we build now is crucial.

We have just launched the Survey for Adult Health for OI. The purpose of this survey is to evaluate the needs that exist in countries with no or limited infrastructure for Adults with OI. We want to work with Experts to develop recommendations and practical tools to support Adult Health for OI.

The more people we can receive input from, the better the project team can respond to the needs. We have a highly qualified coreteam of experts assembled and a wider network of 30 other professionals interested in Adult Health for OI!
