ubuntu.beanies

ubuntu.beanies Handknitted beanies with a purpose. Every sold beanie supports local community development Sawubona! I have been
living in Cape Town now for more than 10 years.

My name is Maria, I am German and I lost my
heart to South Africa during my studies in 2010. I started the ubuntu.beanies project in the midst of the
Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020 with the aim to learn a new
skill - knitting - and to keep me sane during a time where
absolutely nothing was allowed in South Africa. I added
ubuntu.wildlife as a sub-category in late 2022 after I taught
myself how to

crochet. The aim of these projects has always been to create
something small that can help to raise continious donations
for communities in need. Please keep in mind that your piece is by no means a perfect
piece - you might find one or two "knitting or crochet hickups",
which I believe just add to the character of your
individual handmade piece. Remember, it's made with a whole lot of love and of course,
a purpose.

Still crocheting up my flock! This is the 3rd Shaun and certainly a special one. He is made from 100% beautiful Alpaca wool from . I know moms don’t have favourites but…. I might be leaning to him standing out of the flock, together with his friend that was made from mohair wool from a tiny island off from Copenhagen ❤️
It’s really not just about the critter… it’s also always about the story behind them

My yarn stash is currently out-performing the weather forecast. 💁‍♀️
It might be gloomy and grey outside, but my colour coordination is screaming „summer state of mind.

If you need me, I’ll be over here ignoring the rain and turning one colourful yarn ball after the other into something soft & squishy

I FINALLY had some time again to crochet more sheep (well, one so far but it counts!)🐑🥹

These guys have been WAY overdue and I shall get a few more done asap.

How gorgeous is this tweed wool from ? It’s called Karoo yarn and I can not think of better projects to make with this than sheep 😅

This little heart serves as a reminder to choose to be kind - with yourself and with others.

Let it remind you not to judge by appearance, by faith, by skin, by past mistakes or silent struggles - not in others and not in yourself.

Every act of kindness matters.

The world is a better place every time you choose to lead with love ❤️

The legend - Party Panda Paul - is ready for his forever home. Now that he’s finally out in the world (and the „Justice for Paul“ petition can officially be put to rest), the new guy has only two simple requests before he packs his bags:
1. Someone to appreciate the built-in rattle element. He insists it keeps the rhythm.
2. A good spot on the shelf—or a backpack—where he can keep an eye on whatever music you’re playing.

If you’re ready to adopt Paul, drop me a DM. 🐼❤️
